CHAPTER FORTY ONE
———————————
"Because I don't want you there!."
I wasn't allowed to go to Julia's funeral, Mitchell didn't want me there and despite, how mad I was at him for telling me I couldn't go, I understood his reasons of why he didn't want me to go. One, family; the people going to her funeral were family only and I understood that. Two, he told me he didn't want me to see him break down, he didn't want to make me cry and even though, I've seen him cry before; I can only imagine how badly he had been breaking down at the funeral.
It's been two days since her funeral, Mitchell still isn't talking to me and the Preston's haven't left their house at all. Natalie, occasionally to get water or whatever it is that they needed, but that's it. I haven't seen anyone and that pains me, it breaks my heart to see them going through something horrible and not being able to do anything about it. But I know I have to give them their space, so I am.
However, even though Mitchell didn't want me to go to the funeral, he never said anything about visiting her grave and that's what I'm doing now. Written on the tomb in front of me was Julia's name and who she was to the people she left behind and underneath it all was the date of her birth to her death. That little line between the two dates represent her life, everything she's ever done was in that line, her moments and experiences were all held in that small line.
The sound of my phone ringing brings me back to reality. Shaking my head, I remove my phone from my pocket before answering the device and placing it to my ear. I wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone, but it could possibly be my dad asking me when I'll be home.
"Hello?." I answer.
"Faye, something's wrong with Mitchell." Says a familiar voice, my eyebrows raise in confusion as Luke's words circles around my head. Of course there's something wrong with Mitchell, he lost his grandma, but if Luke's calling me saying this then it must be worst then I think.
"What it is?." I ask urgently.
"He was drinking and got into a fight-." He explains "he's badly beaten up Faye, I didn't know who else to call." Luke finishes and shock floods me. Despite Mitchell being a huge player, I've never heard of him going to parties or drinking, I guess that's one thing he doesn't do, he doesn't get in fights either, well I haven't heard about him getting into any. But he doesn't seem like the kind of person to go around punching people.
"Where are you?." I ask Luke as I begin to walk to my car.
"Jordan's house." Luke replies "do you know where that is?." And instead of saying anything, I hum in response "we'll wait for you at the front," Luke informs as I unlock my car and get into the driver's seat, my hand shaking as different situations begin to buzz around my head. How badly is he hurt? I kind of don't want to see Mitchell all bruised and bloody.
"Thanks Luke." I tell him "for everything."
"You're welcome Faye." He says "but please hurry, he's very hard to control when drunk!-." There's a small pause "MITCHELL PRESTON I SWEAR IF YOU DON'T STOP STRUGGLING I'LL CUT OFF YOU PENIS!." Luke exclaims and I pull the phone away from my ear, not wanting to go deaf. I keep myself from laughing out loud and looking like a mad woman.
I turn on the engine and it purrs to life "I'll see you soon Luke."
"See you when you get here." He says before hanging up. With a deep breath, I begin making my way to Jordan's house, Jordan; the captain of the football team and the guy who's also known as throwing huge parties such as the one he's holding now, the one that Mitchell got a fight at. I went to one, but then swore I'd never go away because there's so many people that go and anything can happen. That makes me remember that Luke doesn't like parties either, so why was he there?
So many questions!
