CHAPTER FORTY SEVEN
————————————
"Can I at least get a itty bitty hint?." I ask Athena once again.
Athena chuckles from the driver's seat, keeping her eyes on the road. I have no idea where we were going or why Athena was the one to pick me up and not Mitchell himself, all I knew was that Mitchell was waiting for me and my heart was racing because of that fact. My hands begin to sweat, is this about the kiss? Is this going to be his way of telling me that the kiss was a mistake? I feel disheartened at the thought.
"Stop worrying Faye, this is a good thing I promise." Athena informs me, looking at me from the corner of her eye. I give her a small smile, non-verbally thanking her for her comfort, but it didn't help. Doubts still flew around my mind while Athena drove through the silent and dark night, my eyes scan over the scenery that passes by in a blink, trying to recognise where I am. But nothing pops up.
"Can you at least tell me if this surprise with make me happy?." I ask Athena, that's all I wanted to know. If this surprise that Athena's taking me to will cause me to smile as wide as space.
"The happiest you've ever been." After that, no words are spoken between us. Silence fills the car for the rest of the drive there, wherever there is. I return to looking over the scenery for a hint of where we are while Athena turns on some music, breaking the silence that has settled over us.
Finally, after what feels like years, we reach a park that's far away from town. Athena parks the car and turns off the engine before turning to face me with a big smile on her face. In her hand is a blindfold and I give her a disapproving look to which she shrugs her shoulders in response to. She gets out of the car and comes to my side before opening the door. She than pulls me out of my seat and begins tying the blindfold on my eyes from behind me, blocking my eye sight.
"I swear Athena if I bump into anything, I'll make you regret the day you became a fetus in your mother's womb." I warn, but she doesn't say anything to my threat. Instead, she grabs my arms and begins to lead me to a place unknown to me since I'm blindfolded! My mind better explode when I see the surprise Mitchell has for me because if it doesn't; I'm going home.
"Curb." She tells me and I lift my foot up, hopefully it landing on the curb. We continue our walk until we stop fully, Athena doesn't say anything, but I can hear faint whispers. Not a long amount of time passes until the blindfold's finally removed from my eyes and I can finally see the world around me, giving me the chance to scan my surroundings.
A gazebo, a beautiful white gazebo that stands in the middle of a grassy field with only a park a few metres away is what I stand in front of. Bright fairy lights are strung on the roof and in the middle of it all, is a small table that contains a picnic blanket and chairs on either side of the table. On the blanket is a vase of flowers, plates and cutlery. My mouth opens wide; what's happening here?
Mitchell starts walking down the two steps to get to where Athena and I are. He's wearing a black button up and black jeans, his feet are covered by black polished shoes and his hair's brushed back. He looks handsome, really really handsome and all I wore was a black dress with some converses and my hair's just in a high ponytail. Clearly, I didn't put as much effort into my appearance as Mitchell did.
"What is all this?." I ask breathily when Mitchell stops in front of me.
"Thank you Athena, I can take it from here." Mitchell informs his sister. I turn my head to look at Athena and she gives me a smile before walking to her car. Returning my attention back to the boy who stands in front of me, I give him a questioning look. Out of all the things that could of happened, I certainly wasn't expecting this.
"Mitchell, care to explain what's going on?." I say.
Mitchell raises his eyebrows at me as if I'm being stupid "I thought it was clear with the blindfold and fairy lights that this was a date." He replies "isn't that what all the clique bad boys do to win the good girl's heart?." He finishes and I release a chuckle.
"It was your mum or sister's idea, wasn't it?." I question.
An offended look crosses Mitchell's face "I can be romantic if I want too!." He exclaims, but I narrow an eyebrow "it was mum's idea." He sighs, admitting defeat "but the fairy lights were my idea." He says, looking proud.
I pinch his cheeks "you're lucky I like you Mitchell Preston."
He rolls his eyes "you aren't too bad yourself Faye Reynolds." He gives me a smile before holding out his arm "shall we?." He asks and with a giggle, I wrap my arm around his before we walk up the steps and to the table in the middle of the gazebo where we sit down and begin our wonderful night ahead.
I feel happy
