For those who don't know, or haven't noticed yet, I'm a little bit of a grammar freak. Gertrude is too, but she calls it "spelling OCD".

So?

So, it's kind of weird.

You're kind of weird!

Aw, thanks 😊

Anyways, along with being a grammar freak-

SPELLING OCD-

SHUT UP GERTRUDE, usually comes an obsession with organization.

THAT'S WHY IT'S OCD-

*shoves Gertrude into a bag*

*muffled screams*

Much better. Anywho, paragraphing is part of organization, and I can't STAND it when people don't paragraph right! Every time a different character talks, you NEED to start a new paragraph!

People write like: Tess sat down on the couch. "What do you want for lunch?" she asked Gertrude. "How about a turkey sandwich?" "Nah, I hate turkey. What about ham?" "Deal!"

Please, comment if you can tell what is being said and by whom. It takes twice as long to read stories written like that because you can never tell who's talking! That's why we need PARAGRAPHS!

Would it KILL YOU to go: Tess sat down on the couch. "What do you want for lunch?" she asked Gertrude.

"How about a turkey sandwich?" Gertrude suggested.

Tess cringed, "Nah, I hate turkey. What about ham?"

"Deal!" Gertrude exclaimed.

Seriously, HOW HARD IS THAT?!?!?! (By the way, this story is totally fictional, I absolutely LOVE turkey 😍)

Another instance where you should paragraph is when switching between points. Now, I'm guilty of not always doing that, but I still paragraph enough that what I write is easier to read. When it's all one big block of text, it's super easy to get lost and/or lose interest.

Your paragraphs are really long, I lost interest when you first started.

Shut up. And how did you get out of your bag?!

*holds up scissors* No more bags for me, bitches, I'm free! *runs around crazily*

Don't run with scis- eh, never mind.

I have a little game for you, dear reader: go look at something you've written. Story, essay, rant, journal entry, whatever. Think real long and ask yourself if you paragraphed well. Compare old pieces of writing to newer pieces of writing. Are you consistently bad, have you gotten better over time, have you gotten worse over time, have you always been really good? No matter what, I want you to keep paragraphs in mind every time you write. When it's well organized and easy to read, people WANT to read what you write and will continue reading what you write. It's a win all around!

Vote if you're a human being. And thanks for all of the reads, everyone! Almost 600... wow. Thanks so much everyone 😊
