Trigger warnings: school shooting
Katie's pov
It's Thursday and I woke up next to Rye something doesn't feel good about today I pushed it aside and woke Ryan up
Katie: Rye baby wake up
He slowly opened his eyes and smiled cutely
Rye: morning
Katie: morning
We both got up and got ready for school
School started and everything was going fine I went to the toilet leaving Rye on his own in class I was just in the bathrooms when I heard bangs then I heard the lockdown alarm my mind went blank I'm going to die I remembered what the teacher said to sit on the toilet seat so they don't see you I heard more bangs and screams they wouldn't stop I cover my ears until it stopped well that's what I thought it started again for another 30 seconds then it was over I heard footsteps walk into the toilet I held my breath until the footsteps disappeared
(1 hour later)
I could hear shouting but I didn't want to move someone walked in
2 hours later
Police: police anyone in here?
Katie: y-yeah
Police: come out with your hands up ok
I walked out with my hands up
Police: walk behind me please
I walked behind him the school was empty apart from the bodies that lie on the floor I cry some more and walk outside I see news people and ambulances and police cars everywhere I heard someone shout my name I looked up and saw Rye his head was bleeding I ran and I don't stop i jumped into his arms and cried
Rye: shhh it's alright baby it's alright
Ryes pov
When Katie left for the toilet we carried on with the lessons we then heard bangs like gunshots my first thought was Katie she's in the bathroom we then got a lockdown alarm this was real we hid at the corner of the room and made sure the doors were locked I was shaking I couldn't get my phone the gunshots got louder literally outside it stopped then the bullets came through the window hitting some of the class they hit a piece of glass that was in front of me so it smashed and cut my head everything went black
??: sir are you awake
I opened my eyes
??:ok try and sit up for me
I slowly sat up I winced
Rye: what happened
??: There was a shooting in the school and you got hit by some glass and passed out
I looked around and saw bodies everywhere my friends laying on the floor dead I went numb
Rye: k-Katie
I looked around hoping to see her but I couldn't my breathing got heavier
??: let's get you outside
He helped me up we slowly walked outside there were ambulances and cops everywhere I tried to find Katie and my family I saw my mum and ran to her she gathered me in a hug and I cried
Rye: I don't know where Katie is
I just cried what felt like weeks my mum said my name
Lily: Ryan
I looked up and turned around I saw her crying trying to find someone
Rye: Katie
She turned around and I ran and she ran she jumped into my arms and cried
Rye:shhh it alright baby it's alright
