"A girl will come and take you out for shopping," were the words that Blayze said just before leaving.
"Shopping? Why would you want me to go shopping?"
"Because you need disguises. You can't be a spy otherwise. People can suspect you."
"Oh, I see."
After Blayze left, the house was silent as I waited for the girl, whoever she is, to come and take me shopping.
I decided to watch TV in the living room and ended up watching 'Friends' for an hour until I heard the main door open.
"Hey sweetheart! Did you miss me?"
"No, not really."
Jess rolled her eyes but quickly brought back her smile. "C'mon, let's get going. It's not like I get a lot of tasks that involve shopping."
She grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the house and literally threw me in the car. The car drove off even before I could straighten up.
Within a few minuteswe were at a mall. Shopping never was my thing unlike Jess; she's alreadybought three bags. Apparently, this wasn't a normal shopping trip, it was for evil business. Thus, we ended up buying a lot of different outfits: some classy, some extra fancy, some different traditional clothes belonging to different regions like Indian saris and Chinese clothes that were called something like qipao, etc. which Jess said were important.
Hell, even Chinese people don't wear these tradional clothes anymore until they have some festival coming up.
At least, that's what I think.
After that, we bought some weird wigs that made me look more like animals than different human beings.
We also went to buy contact lenses of every single eye colour and I don't want to talk about how much my eyes hurt in trying to take one of them out.
I got to know Jess better and frankly speaking, she's not that bad.
Yes, she did kick me out of her car on my first day, but she really had her good points too.
Plus, I really needed some people to talk to. Not that I had many to talk to before, but the old librarian had a lot going on in her life that she enjoyed telling me.
But, I threw all my thoughts away when I saw the food court.
"Hey, wait up!" I heard Jess call out too me as I quickly picked up the pace and occupied one of the tables
"Ugh, what the hell was that? One minute we're talking perfectly fine and the next, you decide to ignore me and run here."
"Out of the window with the talking 'cause right now I'm hungry."
"Oh, God."
*
We drove back into the mansion and just as Jess drove out, another car entered from which came out one of the most gorgeous women I had ever seen and a little girl in two ponytails.
They made their way towards the door but stopped when they saw me.
"Uh, who are you and what are you doing here." The woman asked with confused facial expressions.
"I'm Astrid and I'm entering the house."
"No, I mean, as in here, what are you doing here?"
"Standing, talking to you, holding a heck lot of shopping bags, over here."
She was about to say something when Janet opened the door and chimed, "Ah, Miss Astrid, you're back." She looked at the woman. "Mrs. William, I wasn't expecting you, please, both of you, come in."
"That won't be necessary, thank you," Mrs. William replied. She turned to me and asked, "So you're Blayze's wife, aren't you? Jackson told me you were... feisty."
Great.
Does Jackson ever keep his mouth shut?
"Yeah..." was the only thing I could think of as mind yelled a long and loud "AWKWARD!"
"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Annabelle and this is my daughter Talia. I'm Blayze's cousin's wife. Where is he by the way?"
"He's gone to meet some people."
She furrowed her brows. "He's gone? Now who am I going to leave Talia with? He was supposed to baby sit her for two days."
I looked down at the little girl with baby blue eyes like her mother's. so warm, so happy, so... sparkling.
"I'll take care of her," I declared.
"Are you sure, sweetie? I don't want to put a burden on you."
"It's okay, Annabelle. Besides, I love kids."
"oh, thank you, sweet heart." She motioned her driver who bright out a small luggage. "these are her things for these two days. Don't worry about her eating habits, Mrs. Wilson knows them very well."
She was about to leave when she turned back and looked at me in the eyes and said, "You know, my life was just like yours... in a way, but also different. I was just a normal girl like you when I had to get married to a person in this gang. But my marriage wasn't arranged like yours, it was a love marriage. But, just so you know, there's no problem in starting a love story from an arranged marriage."
She winked as she walked off to kiss her daughter good-bye.
I blinked.
Does she expect me to love Blayze Walker?
Ha! Never in a million years! How can I ever love a person who makes it hard to even talk to him?
Especially 'cause I hate him to death!
Right.
Right?
Pushing all the unnecessary thoughts away I looked down at the little girl and smiled.
"Say, Talia, do you want to have some fun?"
She looked up at me and gave me a HUGE smile as she nodded.
This was going to be a fun day.
