Word of advice: NEVER give Jackson any kind of responsibility. He will throw it off on another person.

And that person... is me.

And it becomes much more horrifying when I have to babysit a girl who keeps insisting me to take her out.

I tried calling Jess but apparently, she was busy with a 'top-secret' mission I wasn't allowed to know about.

I just learned how to drive!

So... Talia and I had a very fun ride to the park—full of jerks, and halts, and times when the car was out of control. By the time we reached it, we both could barely walk straight, our legs so wobbly that even standing felt like a life achievement.

I sat, watching Talia play with a few other kids in the playground. I leaned back, taking in the sweet, breezy air. It had been such a long time since I'd gone to such a place; full of life, happiness, hope, and finally I was able to say that I was fitting into this atmosphere. There was a part of me that had felt empty for so long that, now, whenever something would spark up there, I would feel pieces of me fixing and mending. I mean, not literally but that's how I felt.

I decided to join Talia. Pushing the swing for her as she screamed "Higher, higher!", helping her while she climbed the monkey bars, waiting on the other side of the tube slides for Talia to reach. I felt proud to say that I had fun.

As the sun began to set and the sky turned orange, we decided to head back.

With the constant bickering of the little girl, we reached the car and I sat her down first, buckling her up properly. Not knowing the ways to this town well, I turned on the GPS and started the car.

As I drove on and Talia rubbed her eyes with tiredness, I had a terrible feeling in my stomach that made a cold run down my spine. Looking into the rear-view mirror, I found out the source of my uneasiness.

Two cars that had been parked close to my own near the park were following me.

I hate my sixth sense as much as I love it.

So, I increased the speed of the car—slowly, gradually... and then raced off at the next turn.

Bang!

The back mirror of the car broke and I thanked God that Talia was next to me. I made her duck and I accelerated. "Talia, call Blayze, right now!" I ordered, trying to keep myself calm in front of her. "And put it on speaker."

"Sorry, but the number you've dialed is not answering, please try later."

"Call Jackson, your mom, Jess, anyone!"

The answer to all the calls was the same.

I banged my hand against the steering wheel with frustration.

Bang! Bang!

The bullets made two holes in the front mirror. I pushed the accelerator to max. I didn't care if the car would go out of control. I just wanted to go somewhere safe and secure, somewhere where my niece would be safe.

My heart raced and my breaths became heavy and uneven.

I had my gun but I couldn't shoot at them, I had to drive.

The scene became a living nightmare when, in front of me, I saw train tracks... and the train coming right towards me.

I had to get rid of the two cars so I had to make it to the other side before the train reached.
