Astrid Sparks is 17 and striving to live after the death of her parents and the murder of her elder brother.
She wanted revenge.
and she knew she would get it.
Blayze Walker was a mastermind.
He was bad and found that good.
No one ever taught him ho...
"Well, isn't it obvious?" she replied with her eyebrow raised and a smirk on her face.
"No, not to me, no," I blurted.
This is crazy! They'll be here any minute and this piece of shit is going to get stuck in this mess too. I was supposed to clean all my plans by now. Where did she come from?
"I'm here to pick you up."
Who with the what now!?
"Boss send me here to get you. I'm sure you wouldn't have forgotten such an IMPORTANT day, now did you?"
Ooooooooh, so Blayze sent her.
I wonder.... How is she alive with that attitude?
"How can I be so sure that he's the one who sent you?"
She rolled her eyes and took her phone out of her black jacket's pocket. Then a recording started to play...
*Jess, I need you to get a girl named Astrid Sparks. Don't bother me questions. Find her and bring her to me. Get late and you'll know the consequences. Jackson will send you the rest of the information. *
"Yeah, that sounds like him," I sighed hopelessly. He was the only ass-hole who'd love to scare the shit out of the people he ordered. Ugh, there was no way out of this.
"So, what are you waiting for? Go get your stuff. We have a long ride ahead of us.
For the past five years, I had restricted myself to the little place I lived. I didn't even bother to explore the town I lived in. Everything felt useless. And sometimes, going to the places that I had spent a happy past, reminded me of my memories that brought tears in my eyes.
Now, as we crossed the streets, I could feel my heart swell so much that it crushed into my lungs, making it hard to keep my breathing steady. But I wouldn't give in to my feelings. At least I won't remember these memories ever again 'cause I'll never be coming back.
Jess didn't bother asking me anything. Maybe she knew everything.
Maybe he said he'd kill her if she asked? That would've made more sense.
I had no idea where we were going. The road was clear, only with a few cars on it. Everything felt peacefully slow until.....................
The car skid its way to the side into the woods. Jessy drove recklessly and I was pretty sure that she was enjoying every bit of the ride. She laughed as she started driving faster, not forgetting to miss any bump that came in our way.
The car jumped and bounced and I could have sworn to puke if I stayed in that vehicle.
GOD! I wish I had the habit of wearing a seat belt!
After a little while, we arrived to the end of the woods and the road was clear again.
"You liked that?" Jess asked, her wickedly proud smile glued to her face.
I was still panting for breath, half-fallen from the passenger seat with one hand clutching to the doorframe and the other clutching my heart and one foot pushing onto the dashboard.
I shifted my gaze towards her, cocky smile still there.
I smile back tightly, "Very, VERY much."
"Good, 'cause we're almost there."
The ride last another fifteen minutes until a mansion came in site and frankly speaking, I would've loved to live in such a place if I were to live there in normal circumstances.
But my life be like what is this normal you speak of?
As we arrived at the front gate, I saw six men twice my size guarding it.
"Okay, now get out," Jess spoke up when we entered.
"Wait, what? What am I supposed to do afterwards?"
"Oh, you don't need to worry about that. Whatever you'll have to do will come flying towards you."
She winked.
I blinked.
After I got out, she drove out through the gate, leaving me just standing there, looking at her car as it disappeared from my site.
I let out a heavy sigh and was about to look around when I had a feeling in my stomach that I didn't like. Following it, I quickly ducked, just in time to avoid a bullet from making a tunnel in my head.
"What the..." I started, tracing my gaze from where the bullet hit the wall to the man who fired it.
His peridot eyes sparkled amusement for just a few seconds until it disappeared with the smirk he had on his face.
"What did you do that for?"
"It was a mere test."
"I. could've. Died."
"Yes. Slow people don't have a place under me. Besides, everyone who dies has a replacement. And it's easier to replace a person who has edged away from the society, just like someone who never existed."
I clenched my teeth, trying not to strangle him with my tiny hands as he motioned me to follow him.
Something tells me that I have to test his patience like he tests mine.
