The ride back home carried a heavy silence with it. We had spent the whole day practicing shooting. And I was improving.

Bang!

"YES! I did it! I shot the target!" I exclaimed, jumping around with happiness like a teenager (that I was).

Blayze stared at me with a questioning look as I danced about. "You need to stop doing that."

"Why? I shot the target and I'm happy, let me enjoy my victory."

"The victory you had after wasting twenty-seven bullets."

I shrugged. "All the better reason to celebrate."

And that's how it basically went.

"You'll still have to practice for another week or two," Blayze said, breaking the awkward silence.

"Great... when did you learn to use a gun," I asked, clearly uninterested but just wanting to start a conversation.

"When I was going to turn ten."

"Oh, that's nice," and then it hit me. "Wait......... what? You learned to use a gun when I learned to ride a bike without training wheel?"

"Well, weren't you late."

"Not the point! And besides, its hard to learn when you have just a brother to teach you!

The words came out loud and were shocking for both him and I, and they came out just as he drove the car into his mansion.

His eyes stared directly into mine. Mine did the same, only showing a little bit of regret because the words weren't meant to come out.

His mouth opened to say something but I quickly cut him. "Well, would you look at the time? It's already ten thirty. I haven't eaten anything since breakfast. Well, I'm off to find some food for myself."

With that, I quickly got off the car and made my way into the house with Blayze close behind.

"Finally! I thought you guys would never come back from your date," I heard a voice say from the living room.

I looked at the man who said this. His olive-green eyes looked at me and Blayze as a huge smile came across his face. He looked like Blayze but only a bit younger and much more innocent.

"What are you doing here, weren't you supposed to be away for a few more days, Jackson?" Blayze asked, clearly agitated to see his brother.

"Aw, I get that you wanted alone time with your wife-y here but I finished my work early and I had nothing to do but come back here. Now please tell me you're hungry because Molly won't let me touch the food until you guys weren't back."

"Jackson."

"Yes?"
"Shut that crap of yours or I'll do it for you!"

The tone brought shiver over my body. And the words....... What should I say?
#Scary af.

I decided to ignore the boys and go directly to the kitchen where I saw Molly and ran up to hug her.

"Aye, what's this for, dearie?"

"Nothing. I just missed you so, so, sooo much... and your cooking too."

"Of course, ya' did, thas why I made the dinner myself. Thank the Heavens you came here, otherwise that jerk Jackson wouldn't have waited a minute to dive into the lasagne without waitin' for anybody! God, these boys are so annoying! One eats like a pregnant cow while the other eats like a sparrow on diet! Ain't that unhealthy?"

"Yup, definitely unhealthy."

I spent my time helping Janet set the table with Jackson right behind me, cracking stupid marriage jokes. He even got to my phone and saved his number with the name 'cutest bro-in-law'.

The dinner was quiet, not just because Blayze was there too but also because Jackson kept giving cheesy glances at the both of us which, by the way, Blayze noticed.

His reaction to it was banging the fork to the table and leaving. Now, I had two options:

1. Be a good wife and go check on my husband.

2. Be loyal to the lasagna and eat the poor food that was left here all alone by my cruel husband.

I was definitely going with for option 2.

After a delicious meal, I was heading up to my room to sleep when Jackson called out to me, "Hey, uh, Astrid! Blayze might not be ready to see my face right now so tell him that he has a meeting around 5a.m so he better be ready. And I'll be dropping him off."

"Uh, sure."

I entered my room and found Blayze laying on the bed, using his laptop. I frowned at him.

"What?" He asked.

I pointed at the shirt laying in the middle of the room. But he didn't get it.

"Don't make a mess! It already took me half a day to clean this place."

He rolled his eyes. "I don't care. It's your job to keep this place in order so do your job."

Agitated as I was, I made my way to the bathroom, picking up his shirt and throwing it on his face in the process.

I took a nice, warm, 45-minute bath, after which I stepped out and changed into my unicorn pyjamas. By then Blayze had his laptop set on the floor and was sleeping on his back with his forearm covering his eyes.

Looks like I had to wake him in the morning.

*

"WAKE UP!!!"

"WAKE UP OR YOU'LL GET LATE!!!"

That was how my day started. Pretty good start, right.

I woke up to the sound of my alarm only to find my hand on Blayze's face and a leg on top of his. He lay in the exact same position as I saw him at night.

Since then I had been screaming at him like this for fifteen minutes straight but he didn't even budge.

And I thought I was a heavy sleeper.

When my voice box started to give out, I climb up the bed, standing on my feet, placing on either side of him and then....

I started jumping up and down, making the bed bounce with him. In seconds, his eyes fluttered opened.

"WAKE UP YOU LOUSY EXCUSE OF AN ACTIVE HUMAN!"

He grabbed my leg and threw me down on the other side of the bed.

"If this is how you've decided to wake me up then I'm sure you won't last two more day without a bullet in your head."

"Well, it not my fault that you can't wake up even when someone is screaming at you."

He closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths until his bulging vein disappeared. he scanned me and smirked. "What are you? Twelve? do you seriously believe in this shit." he pointed at me unicorn pj's.

"Yes, i do. If long necked, cheetah patterned, two horned giraffes can exist then so can these."

He looked at the clock and then at me. "Why on earth would you wake me up at 4:30 in the morning!?"

"Because I forgot to tell you that you have a meeting today at 5am and Jackson will be dropping you off."

"Meeting? I don't have any meet...... shit!"

"What happened?"

"I had my men from Manchester coming back with a big news today! Go tell Mrs. Wilson to get breakfast ready. Tell her that I only want a cup of coffee, I doubt that Jackson waited for us."

I saluted him. "Aye, aye, captain!"

I felt his eyes follow me as I came out of the wardrobe all dressed up and exited the room.

There was just something about the way he looked at me that made me feel his gaze burn right through me. And the worst part is that I don't know why.
