*TW: Near suicide attempt, again, but didn't get as far*

This time, Remus was completely alone. Nobody there. Nobody sitting on a bench out of Remus' view. He held the note in his hand which he had just taken out of his bag and stood on the bridge.

He could have done it that night.

"Why can't you be more like Roman?"

"Freak!"

"I can't believe you're related!"

"God, I wish Roman was an only child."

"We could kick you out whenever we want to, Remus!"

"What the hell are you doing here?"

Remus gasped and turned around to see the weird Roman hallucination again. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"I asked first."

"What does it look like?"

Roman rolled his eyes. "Looks like you're about to jump. Stop acting like the victim. You were awful to me."

"Yeah? And who started that?"

"You! You made fun of me all the time as kids!"

"Those were jokes, and we're brothers! Isn't it the sibling rule that we get to make fun of each other?"

"I'm more sensitive than you think I am," his twin said. "Plus, Mom and Dad already knew you were going to be a failure, so they put all their expectations on me. Do you know how that feels? To have everything on your shoulders because your brother doesn't even want to try! I never got the chance to live a normal, happy life because of you."

"I was never that terrible of a piece of shit like you! Remember throughout the entirety of high school where you bullied the fuck out of Patton?"

"We're over that now!"

"Are you sure? How do you really know that? You traumatized him. He skipped all the classes you had together and we were friends because we both stayed behind the school to get away from you and your friends."

He clenched his fists. "I feel terrible for what I did to Patton. You, on the other hand, can die and I won't stop you."

"You're just like Mom and Dad, huh?"

"Well, the three of us all want me to be an only child, so yeah. Pretty much."

"REMUS!"

Roman disappeared and Remus blacked out.

When he woke, Virgil was pressing an ice pack against the other man's forehead.

"Do you just always bring ice packs with you?" Remus murmured.

Virgil blushed. "And heat packs, a first aid kid, mace to spray in case someone's trying to kidnap me, a sealed knife, a second phone, plus a breathing barrier and AED in case I need to do CPR. Y-You can never be too safe... Um, are you okay? You were leaning over the edge really far and I nearly had a heart attack at the sight s-so, uh, yeah."

Even laying down unconscious, Remus was terrifying to him.

"You should've just thrown me off the bridge after I passed out."

His eyes widened. "Why would I do that?"

"Because living is fucking exhausting. This nearly exact scenario played out like, last week or something. Maybe less. I don't need to be saved twice. When is the universe going to let me die?" Remus laughed dryly. "Plus, you hate me. Don't even try to deny it."

Virgil's blush deepened as he replied with, "Okay, fine, I hated you but I never wanted you to die. Especially by my hands? Do you think I'm crazy?"

"What are you even doing out here this late?" Remus changed the subject.

"Uhhhh..." he trailed off. He reached into his bag and pulled out a bouquet of flowers. "I was going to, uh, visit Roman..."

The taller one was about to comment on how much Virgil could fit into one small bag, but he figured it wasn't the time. "Oh."

He sat up.

"I can drive you home, Remus."

This time around, Remus was too tired to argue. "Sure." And he slung his half filled bag over his shoulder and got into Virgil's car.

To get his mind off of things, he examined the inside of the car while Virgil drove.

"Once I get to your street, you have to tell me which one's yours, okay?"

Remus nodded, a very faint print catching his attention. It was a pad with numbers and letters and it wasn't something the typical car had.

He wondered what typing the correct code would do. What it would lead to.

"Are you inspecting my car?" Virgil asked anxiously. "Okay, I get that it's messy, I'm planning on getting rid of a lot of stuff to like, charities, so I'm a bit of a mess in general-"

"No, it's fine. I just spaced out."

"Oh, okay." He let out a short sigh of relief.

The rest of the ride was silent until Remus said, "The black house is mine."

Virgil pulled up into the driveway. "Good night then?"

"Good night, Virgil."

"Stay safe."

"Thanks."

With the awkward tension still in the air even as Remus entered his home and Virgil drove away, neither had a good night.

Something about Remus creeped Virgil out.
