"Hello, Logan," Declan greeted.

Logan waved a greeting and sat down in the chair on the opposite side of the table uneasily.

"How are you?"

"Honestly terrible. My ex boyfriend has been murdered and you know that, so that's an idiotic question."

Declan nodded. "Are you always this defensive?"

"I'm not defensive, I'm just stating facts. You're a detective on this sensitive case, therefore you should know that this is an uncomfortable situation for me. I'm just being blunt."

"I'm trying to make this a little more comfortable for you. Tell me about your relationship with him."

"Well, we met in elementary school, but we didn't exactly get along as the annoying theatre kid and the gifted 'nerdy' student. We couldn't stand each other until senior year when we were paired for a history presentation and we realized how much we had in common. So we actually became friends. Our friendship wasn't perfect all the way through because of how different we are, but we got through everything and started dating about a year after we both graduated college." He looked off into the distance with a dazed smile as Roman was standing right there.

"Was there any kind of falling out recently?"

Logan paused. "Uh, yes..." he choked out.

"Would you care to elaborate?"

"We..." He stared at the floor. "We'd been getting into some arguments. Well, a lot of them."

"About anything in particular?"

Logan looked livid, but he knew better than to fight during a police interrogation. "Our personalities clashed and we were angry with each other." He didn't go too far into detail.

He couldn't.

"Where were you at the time of the murder and what happened before it?"

"I was at home. Before, I invited Roman over to talk about our relationship and where it was headed. We ended up getting into another fight and he- he- h-" He slapped his hand over his mouth, pain evident in his eyes.

"Hey, it's okay," Declan said soothingly. Treating the suspect like a friend was incredibly important. "Keep going. You're okay."

"He broke up with me," Logan said weakly. "Then he stormed out. I was going to go after him and I tried to call his name to get him to come back so we could fix everything, but he just ignored me and kept walking away." He bit his bottom lip hard when he felt tears coming on. "I stayed home because I didn't want to make things even worse."

"Do you know of anyone who has had bad relations with Roman?"

Finally, Logan couldn't stop himself from crying. He messily wiped his tears on the back of his hand. "Not really. Virgil and Patton both have had bad things happen in their friendship with Roman before, but I just think that's normal? The only person I know who figuratively has bad blood with Roman is Roman's twin brother, Remus. They've hated each other since they were kids."

"Interesting. Thank you. And I am very sorry for your loss. Now, did you contact anyone after Roman left?"

"I called Patton. He tried to comfort me over the phone for a while before I decided to just try to go to sleep. But I couldn't fall asleep that night. Later on, after Roman was shot, I got a call from Virgil telling me what happened."

The detective nodded. Logan could barely talk since he was crying at the same time but he tried to maintain a professional look.

"Did arguments with Roman ever get physical?"

"No. We weren't like that. Even when we fought so much, I wouldn't hurt him physically. I-I love him. And he never did anything to me because he loves... loved me."

"What were you doing on that day before you asked Roman to come over?" the detective questioned.

"I was grading an abundance of tests and finishing a slideshow of key points from our current unit for my 7th grade science class."

"What's the unit?"

"I don't see why this is an important question, but it's DNA and Mutations."

"What would your students say about you?"

"I think they'd say I'm a good teacher. I'm one of the youngest teachers in the entire school, so they like me for that. I call out kids who I think are annoying, so a lot of them like me for that too. Though I'm not happy with how many middle school girls have crushes on me."

"Did your and Roman's occupations interfere with your relationship or even cause arguments?"

"They never really caused arguments. The only real issues were when I couldn't do things with him as often near the end of the school year with finals and such, and how much he traveled as an art director caused us to be apart sometimes. Other than that, no."

"Let's go over things, shall we?" He didn't let Logan answer before he continued anyway. "Where were you before the murder?"

"I invited Roman over so I was at home talking to him."

"And where were you when it took place?"

"Still at home."

"Did you contact anyone, when, and what was said?"

The shorter man gulped. "I called Patton after Roman left my house and told him what happened. After Roman was killed, Virgil called me and told me he saw Roman's dead body and had contacted the police."

"And what did you do when the call with Virgil ended?"

"I sat in bed for the rest of the night listening to music to try to forget about what he said."

"Did you sleep?"

"Barely."

"Thank you for your time and help. It was a pleasure meeting you."

"You too," Logan lied. This experience was far from pleasurable. "Thank you."

Logan left with haste and Declan brought in the next suspect.

One of Roman's best friends who was also the complainant.
