First, I'll list the scenes that didn't make the final cut I didn't write all of them. There were some that I did write and just ended up stashing them in my notes app instead of publishing, and I'll put those in after the list.

1. Remy was going to die. Yes, I was going to make Patton kill him. This would have turned this whole story on its head, but I decided against it because I guess there is still some good in me.
2. Virgil was going to die on August 2nd. I only didn't follow through with this because Virgil was vital in Remus finally getting through and figuring out it was Patton.
3. When I didn't follow through with Virgil's death, Logan was supposed to spiral and try to take his mind off of Roman by hooking up with other men until he killed himself on August 2nd. I didn't follow through because I thought it was a bit messy. Logan breaks his typical facade several times throughout the story, but I settled on his coping mechanism as not trying to escape, but wondering what he did wrong and trying to fix things that were unfixable.
4. I thought about a romance between Logan and Remus. I never wrote it, though. I think close platonic bonds should have been the outcome between the three innocent suspects. I don't believe Logan would be over Roman so easily without years of help, and anyways I enjoy their friendship much much better. It makes them feel more real.
5. I put down this idea without actually writing it, but Declan was going to be walking down the street until Patton hid and shot him because Declan was getting suspicions about Patton who Remy continued to deny. I just thought it was too much because other events occupied the space this one had. Also, this was supposed to be how Declan confirmed it was Patton BUT I really wanted to give Remus the unexpected hero story.
There were definitely other ideas that popped up that I didn't use because that's just part of the process, but these would have changed the story the most.

DELETED SCENE #1: REMY'S DEATH
Declan watched the life fade from his best friend's eyes. A shiver ran through his spine as his skin's undertones already looked too gray.
"C-Come on, Rem..."
He stood up and away from the corpse, shaking tremendously. His hands were covered in Remy's blood from the bullet wound. And his breath caught in his chest. The detective shook his head.
People like Remy weren't supposed to die.
People like Remy didn't deserve this.
"FUCK!" he cried, his voice ripped, forgetting his co-workers were there too, some in tears as well. Declan fell to his knees next to Remy. He held his bloody hands away from his clothing. He could've fainted right there.
Then the ambulance came.
They came too late.
Seeing Remy being put in a body bag was another level of pain. He knew Remy was dead, but he didn't accept it. Maybe he never would. He thought he'd have his best friend forever.
