(A/N: okay a couple of you guys have the story ALMOST on the DOT and im scared, oh my god?? or some of you have pieces and if you all team up you could get something suPer close-)

Logan had mixed feelings about Virgil being arrested. Now that he was back on track with Patton and had gotten closer to Remus, he could figure out more about each of them.

He decided to test Patton first. He wasn't stupid. He was 97% sure of how Patton felt towards him. Logan invited him over on Sunday, but not in a casual way.

"What? What's wrong?!" Patton asked when Logan opened the door after the man banged on it repeatedly. "You said it was important!"

"U-Uh... I said it was important, but it's not an emergency."

"Oh." He checked the time on his phone. "But what happened?"

"I'm just not feeling great about this whole situation."

"With Virgil?"

"Yes." Logan sighed.

"I've been thinking a lot too. I just- I don't want to believe he did it, y'know?"

"Yeah. When I told you something was important, what I meant was, remember when we went back to your place after Virgil got driven off by the police?"

Patton nodded slowly. "If this is going where I think it's going..."

He shut his eyes and asked, "Are you an alcoholic?"

"Uh, no. Define alcoholic."

"A person who's addicted to alcohol."

"Then no," the shorter man huffed. "Okay, I get that I have a problem, but I'm not addicted. I've been sober for weeks and I don't have it every day. Maybe I sometimes use it to take my mind off of things I don't want to think about, but I'm fine."

"I think you should see someone."

Patton shook his head. "Gosh, why is everyone suggesting I get a therapist? I'm fine!"

Logan put on hand on top of Patton's hand and the other on his jaw, scooting closer. "I didn't mean to offend you. I care about you a lot. Maybe more than I should."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

He pressed their foreheads together and felt Patton begin to burn up. "I really like having you around."

"You're touchier today than you usually are," Patton croaked out. His stomach churned, or maybe it was butterflies. He didn't know which he'd rather have it be.

Logan got even closer and leaned on Patton's shoulder, breathing against the other's neck and making him shiver. "Do you like me, Patton? You aren't slick."

"U-Um, do you w-want to go get, um, brunch? Go for a walk? Lo, why are you doing this? Am I your rebound? Is this what being a rebound feels like?"

"Tell me what you're thinking right now." He ignored his friend's questions.

"You're... Y-You're, um? Okay, fine! You're really hot and I've been in love with you for years, and I was sad when you started dating Roman all that time ago and I stayed sad but I tried to repress all my feelings for you because you deserve to be happy, is that what you wanted to hear?" Patton stood up to catch his breath. "I'm never going to be involved with you. I know you still love Roman, and I'm not going to be your rebound, and I'm sure as he...ck not going to take advantage of you. Just a few days ago, you were crying to me about how much you missed him. Do you think I'm deaf?"

Logan was stunned into silence. This was not how he expected the plan to work out.

"You deserve so much better than I can give you," he said delicately. "You deserve Roman. He's tall and handsome and successful and he treated you better than anyone could. I'm just here. That's why I never tried to win you over. I don't stand a chance against him."
