The rest of the day both Stark and Loki were pretty absent, following their own thoughts.
At dinner Stark cleared his throat and everyone else stopped eating or talking. "Well... I just wanted to remind you all that in a week Agent Romanoff and Clint will come back from their mission."
Loki, who hadn't eaten the whole day, just stared at his empty plate.
"Both don't know that our guest is here, so I'm asking all of you: Should we tell them before they arrive here or afterwards? Both has Pro's and Con's."
Stark looked up, and saw that all the other Avengers seemed to be shocked, like he was. They were getting used to the presence of the god and totally forgot that the two would most likely try to kill him if nobody told them why he was here. After a short pause Loki spoke. "I could... just leave... I don't want you to get in trouble with your partners because of me."
Suddenly Fury slammed his fist on the table and the god flinched in fear of having said something wrong."You will not leave. Where would you go? Asgard? I don't think so. Plus, the two have to obey my order. If I tell them they have to accept you they can either do as I say or they can search for a new job. If one of them hurts you or threatens you you can tell me or anyone else at this table. Okay?"
Loki nodded, his gaze locked to the plate.
"Oh", the man with the eye patch added, "and eat something. Trying to starve yourself wouldn't help you."
"Y...yes S...sir", Loki stuttered, still not daring to look up from his plate. Everybody was looking at him. He could feel it.The rest of the dinner everyone talked about Romanoff and Clint and how they should warn them. Meanwhile Loki was nibbling on a small piece of bread, trying to not catch anyone's attention.
He was really hungry, but this was his way of punishing himself. He was only attempting to eat so Fury wouldn't get angry.
This night was the first night since months he spent in a real bed. The Avengers decided to give him his own room because it looked like he would stay for longer.
But he couldn't really enjoy the first night. There was still Agent Romanoff. Yes, Barton would be a problem, too, but Romanoff hated him. He was sure she would sell her own soul to get a chance to torture him to death.Around midnight his stomach started to ache. He should have eaten something... But now it was too late. A few minutes later his knee started hurting like hell, so he stood up to go to the operation room. There were some painkillers, he knew that.
Limping he walked down the stairs, as a door behind him opened. Shit.
Hoping to not be seen in the darkness he stood as still as he could, but then there were steps coming closer and finally a voice whispering his name.
It was Thor. Happy it was just his brother he turned around to walk up to him.
But there was nobody.
