Gulls, made bold by constant hunger,
Squabble over shreds of treat.
The ancient river laps... slaps ... flaps...
As it lazy kisses the barnacle crusted launch.
Cow and cock alike, echo 'cross smooth water.
First light severs edge and shadow
Last light severs shadow and edge
