Me?
I once thought I knew,
Who I was,
What I wanted,
How to be true to myself.
But now I realise,
And I understand,
You can never be free,
of societal norms.
I used to be brave,
I used to be free,
Now I hide inside,
And read all day.
Maybe I shouldn't care,
But it's hard not to,
When traditions and norms,
Are like chains binding me.
They bind my freedom,
Who I am,
So that I am truly me,
But who the want me to be.
I tried,
And I failed,
I tried to be free.
In the end.
I am who they want me to be.
