Same day
Aurianna's house
Willowbrook
Wisconsin"That's the last time I attend a family reunion." Marcie said as she flopped on the couch in Danny's living room. "Or any reunion for that matter." They sat around her and relaxed. "What about high school?" Vlad asked as he scrunched his nose in thought. Marcie snorted, "Not even high school." "Here Thunder, let me see your neck." Danny said and Thunder moved to sit beside her. She covered his neck with her palms and hummed. Her palms glowed orange for a while before stopping. She removed her palms, "Try moving it. Still hurts?" Thunder moved his neck, "A bit, but I'll be fine." She nodded and sat back.
They were quiet before Cali broke the silence, "I believe you owe us an explanation Marceline. At least explain why they keep going back and forth, calling you Audrey and Marceline." Marcie chuckled, "Is that what's bothering you?" Cali grunted, "It is rather irritating." Marcie chuckled again, "Okay fine, I'll talk. Time for a story." Vlad clapped his hands in excitement, "Yay! Story!" Marcie rolled her eyes, "Real mature Derevyanko. My dad met my mum in Columbia University." Danny's brows shot up, "Your parents are Ivy Leaguers?" Marcie nodded, "Surprising, I know. My dad was engaged to Desdemona before he left England. It was my grandfather who set them up. He was a pretty strict guy and my dad just went along with it. My mum was perfectly human and in her freshman year studying Nursing while my dad was a junior studying History. They met, fell in love, blah blah, shit I don't care about. My dad graduated and left New York, leaving my mum pregnant and alone.
"My mum's parents weren't exactly glad and disowned her immediately. She graduated anyway, got a job and took care of lil ol' me. My dad, on the other hand, got married to Desdemona the minute he got back and, since she was pregnant before he left, became a father to Cherry and Kimmy.
"I was 5 when I first saw my dad. He was doing business in Massachusetts where we were staying and my mum was taking me for a walk. They bumped in the park, literally, and my dad was shocked to see me. He knew straight away that I was his kid and begged my mum to spend some time with me. My mum just picked me up and ran. Months later, she forgave him and became his second wife. Desdemona was originally uncomfortable, but she got used to it. She wasn't exactly mean to me but she didn't bother trying to get to know me. Kimmy and Cherry though hated my guts. I was daddy's little girl and they felt like I took away his attention. Granted, I kinda did but whatever. The only members of the Williamson family who accepted me were my dad and Avril. My grandpa died when I was 7 so he wasn't a problem, but Avril was my friend. My mum didn't know shit about being a witch so Avril taught me. Nearly everything I know was from her and she was the closest thing I had to a friend other than my mum and Hayden. The deal with my name is that my dad gave me Marceline, my mum gave me Audrey. She was the only one who called me Audrey. Desdemona and the twins called me Marcie or sometimes Marcelle while Avril, Hayden and my dad called me Celine."
"Who's Hayden? Your brother?" Pegasus asked. Marcie shook her head, "He's my teddy bear." They looked at her in shock and confusion. "Relax morons," Marcie chuckled, "He was the first gift I got from my dad and I enchanted him so he could come to life. The spell wore off every now and then but I would just cast it again. My dad was also pretty cool. He used to shower me with gifts and he was proud of nearly everything I did. Shit went down when I inherited the staff.
"The staff is a family heirloom and has been passed on for generations. Whoever bore the staff bore the name Shakespeare, since he was the one who created it, and was considered extremely powerful and wise. Our family is considered a big deal among witches because the staff bearer was a member of the witch's council and his vote was very important. My grandmother bore the staff before me and expected either Cherry or Kimmy to inherit it since they were full blood witches. I honestly didn't care, seemed like a lot of fuss for a fancy stick.
