"Mr. Rose sir. Can I speak to you a moment?" Josiah asks.
"Sure Josiah." After they get into the hall," what is it?"
"I would like your permission to court Sarah. I love her sir and she loves me."
"Ah, you do know what he is facing?"
"Yes sir. I want to be there for her. I will anyway but, I want to do it as her boyfriend. I want to hold her hand and brush her hair off her face, and, well, anything else she needs."
"You mean it. I am glad to hear it. A young man that is not interested in just the physical. It is refreshing."
"Yes sir, I am very serious about your daughter. We don't just date to date in our group. We only date those who we truly believe we have a future with."
"I really like the sound of that. But Josiah, have you really thought of this. I want you to be sure. I won't have my daughter's heart broken."
"I am very sure. Thank you sir."
"Well what do you say we go tell Sarah?"
They enter the room and the girls look up expectantly. "Sarah, I had a talk with your friend. He told me how you feel about each other. I think it is wonderful that you have found each other. I am honored to give my permission for y'all to court."
"I told you he wouldn't have a problem " Beth says.
"Ah, you can read minds, can you Beth?"
"No sir. Just your expressions."
"So no poker?"
"No sir. You will lose your shirt." They all laugh together.
