They talk of Beth predicting his answer to Josiah's question. "So, you can read my mind, can you Beth?"
"No sir. Just your face. It softens when you see them together."
"I do like to see my Sarah happy. Josiah does that and he is a good guy."
"The best." Sarah agrees. She sits, holding Josiah's hand. He grins at her. "My second best love. I do love you daddy."
"I love you too sweetie." He says through a yawn.
"Daddy, how much sleep did you get last night?"
"Not much."
"Then you must go home and sleep in your own bed."
"I don't want to leave you alone."
"She won't be alone. I can stay with her." Josiah offers.
"Well, I guess you will be safe enough here." He teases them.
"Yes daddy. I would think so."
"Besides the fact that we are very committed to being pure. He is as safe as leaving her with a brother would be." Beth adds.
"Okay. Y'all have convinced me. You don't mind staying the night sleeping on the chair, Josiah?"
"Not at all sir. I just promised to be there for all she needs. No matter what."
"First date." Sarah says looking at him with her whole heart in her eyes.
"Yep, one of many, I pray."
"Okay love birds. Can you wait until we leave the room?" Beth jokes.
"Sarah, I am tired. I think I will head home. If that is okay?"
"It is. I am glad you are finally thinking of yourself."
"What have I told you Sarah."
"I know but if you collapse, who is going to look after me?"
"You have a point kiddeo. I love you. I will see you in the morning."
"Okay daddy. Good night. I love you too."
"Sarah, I think I will head home too." Beth says, " Give you and Josiah sometime alone."
"You don't have to go." Sarah is suddenly nervous.
"You will be okay," she whispers in her ear. "I promised my mom that I would help her with the meal planning for y'all."
"Anything but broth and jello." Sarah jokes.
"Gotcha, I love you sis. I will see you both in the morning." She winks at her.
"I love you too. Thanks sis."
"Josiah be good." Another wink.
"I will."
"I know. Good night you guys."
