The Right Side

Chapter 10

Avery's POV

Ash is laying on her bed looking up at the ceiling and I am sitting curled up on one of her bean bags. We have been talking for hours.

"Okay... favorite color?" I ask.

"What?" She asks still looking at the ceiling.

"You heard me... what's your favorite color?" I ask her while picking at my fingers. It has gotten scary easy to talk to her.

"Hm... I guess I've never thought about it... how bout... blue." She say and she turns her head to look at me then back at her ceiling. "What about you?"

"Green! Oh I have always loved green. It is always so bright and white where I live! I love the green forest!" I say smiling.

"Noted..." she says and I giggle.

"Okay what animal would you be if you could be one?" I ask. I was not ready for a quick answer.

"A wolf. They are strong, fierce and smart... they are fast. I could run away... I could be free..." she says and continues looking at the ceiling. "You?"

I blush... "a bunny..."

"A BUNNY" she says and she starts laughing uncontrollably. "That's.... so.... brilliant!" Her accent says in between laughter.

"Hey! Stop!" I say laughing too, "there is a reason!"

"Oh please, love, tell me the reason!" She says and I blush at the nickname.

"Okay... well they are fast and smart and cute. They could help me escape... just like you..." I say and she stands up. She grabs a blanket.

"Ya but the thing is, Princess." She says as she lightly puts the blanket over me and kneels down eye level. "Wolves eat Bunnies for breakfast..." she whispers with a smirk.

She stands up and walks into the bathroom leaving me with that thought. I let my head rest down. It must be 2 am in the morning and I am exhausted.

I close my eyes for a short second and I am caught up in a dream. Ash and I are in a green forest. She is showing me a beautiful flower. It's so vivid.

"I planted these when I was a kid and now they are all over the place." She says with a smile. I was about say something but we hear a loud bang. And she grabbed me. Her wings come out and she lifts me up into the air. I feel like I am flying as she gently lays me down on a cloud.

"Goodnight, love..." she whispers as she flies away...

I wake up to beautiful sun rise coming from a open window. There is a slight chill so I throw the covers back over my shoulder. I snuggle into the warm comfortable bed.

"Rise and shine, cupcake." I hear Ash say which makes me open my eyes. I look around to see I am in her room. I jump out of her bed and she is walking into the room.

"Did I fall asleep in here last night?" I ask trying to fix my hair up a little.

"Yes you did and your hair is perfect. No need to fix it." She says with a small smile.

"Um, Delaney wants to go to your room so she can tell you something... I don't know I couldn't hear her she was mumbling the whole time." Ash says while looking down at a book.

"Oh uh... yes ya... I'll go." I say and I walk town her door.

"Hey Avery..." she says stopping me at the doorknob." I turn to look back at her. She still has her back to me. "Thank you for staying with me last night..." she says quietly.

"Of course Ash... anytime." I say and walk out the door with a smile on my face. The smile doesn't leave my face until I make it back to my room.

I open the door to see a Delaney right in my face.

"TELL ME EVERY!!" She screams.
