(WARNING! In this chapter, the reader has depression. I know how hard it is for some people to read it, this is why I warn you. I've had depression myself and I know how it feels, so if you can't handle it, please do not read this chapter. The reader has healed once, but the depression has returned while Grievous was gone for three months.)
It has returned.
Grievous knew it from the moment you did not eat your favorite food, only staring at it before standing up, leaving the room wordlessly. Sighing, he grabbed the food, covered it, and shoved it in the fridge, before standing up, following you to the bedroom where you were curled up on top of the sheets.
He could see your body jerking with the violent yet silent sobs that left your body, and he felt that familiar burn in his lungs he always got when he saw you like that, your will broken, your heart shattered. He carefully got closer, and lowered himself on the bed, wincing as it creaked underneath his weight.
You flinched at the sudden sound and turned your head towards him, meeting beautiful, bright golden reptilian eyes. "I'm so, so sorry.", you sobbed before you leaned against him, burying your face into his chest, sobbing into it. Very carefully, the cyborg lifted his hand to run it through your hair, making the deep, rumbling purr he knew calmed you.
"Shh. It's alright.", he rasped, coughing afterward. His lungs had gotten worse during the mission he had attended to a month ago. That planet had been filled with smoke, and his organs clearly had something against it. He even collapsed once, and the Sith wanted to bring him back because they did not want to lose their powerful weapon, but he pulled through, and so the Jedi he was supposed to kill were dead, and the Separatists had the victory they wanted.
He was pulled from his thoughts by a very loud sob on your side, and he wrapped his arms around your body, pulling you onto his lap after putting a blanket on it, not wanting to hurt you. "When?", he rasped into your ear, purring softly while doing so. He knew this calmed you, it always had when you had bad days. "A month after you left.", you whispered and buried your face into his shoulder. "It was all so sudden." He sighed and slowly laid down, pulling you with him, again with such a gentle touch.
"It's alright, my love. You are not to blame.", he muttered but had to turn away to cough. "None of this is your fault." "I thought it was all over. But it's back. That fucking depression is back.", you sobbed against him, hitting his chest with your weak arms. He let you, knowing that you had to let your frustration out. He waited until your weak body has exhausted itself and pulled you against him, pressing his mask against your forehead in the form of a kiss. "And you will heal again.", he argued softly and ran his thumb over your lips. "You are too strong to be defeated by this." You sobbed and closed your eyes. "I'm n-not strong e-enough. I wouldn't h-have it now i-if I was strong enough t-to handle your ab-absence."
He said nothing and slowly felt regret creep up in him. "I am sorry.", he whispered, his own voice wavering. "I am so, so sorry. I should have stayed with you." "N-no.", you chocked and smiled at him. "You needed to go, or else you would have gotten in trouble, and I would have never forgiven myself if that would have happened." He sighed and pulled you against his chest, burring his own face in your hair. "We can handle this.", he whispered and let his hands run over your back. "I'll always be there, and as long as you suffer, I will not leave you. Screw the Sith, screw the Jedi, screw the war. You're far more important than any of this would ever be."
You could not help but smile, and you felt a little bit of happiness blooming in your chest, pushing the sadness away a little bit. You leaned up and kissed his forehead before settling on top of his chest, a small smile on your face. He wiped the tears off your face gently, painting a smile with them of your forehead. "You're far too beautiful to be so sad. I'll search help for you tomorrow, for now, rest. I will not leave your side, my love. Not ever."
You sobbed silently, and again, tears leaked from your eyes, but this time, they were not from sadness, but from happiness, curling up on top of him with only the blanket between you so that you would not be hurting from sleeping on such a hard surface. Yes, he would be there for you, just like he had been before. This was not the first time you had to go through depression, and it would probably not be the last, but you had your cyborg boyfriend who could literally rip a man apart with only his claws.
He would never leave you, he would mess with the whole Separatists just to keep you safe, and he will do everything to make it better.

Science FictionGeneral Grievous was my favourite character in Star Wars and I couldn't find many stories about my favourite Kaleesh. This may contain some lemons.
