Slowly dying

"Be careful next time, okay?", your voice sounded tired, but it was not because you were exhausted because you couldn't take the sight of your injured boyfriend anymore. "Very well, my love.", a robotic voice rasped, and a metallic hand ran through your hair, but you felt only a weight that almost forced you down on your knees.

"Just don't get yourself killed, it was close last time." General Grievous chuckled and gave you a hug, but you were almost crushed by his sheer strength. "That scum will never kill me." You gave him a kiss on his faceplate. "I love you.", you whispered. "I feel the same way.", he rasped and coughed. Then he left...

...and you were alone with your sickness.

Every day, it got worse. The blood slowly started to thickening itself, your brain had more and more work to keep your organs functioning, and your lungs struggled to fill themselves with air...but you did not back down. Every time Grievous came home, you would swallow it down and be happy with him, playing healthy...but as soon as your love left, you broke down, spitting, coughing, or even purging blood.

Your body slowly started to rip apart and got worse and worse. The doctors did not even know what was wrong with you, but you did. Even though you seemed harmless, you were an agent, working for an organization to keep experiments alive, kill them, or bring them to another place. Two years ago, one of those things attacked you, spitting you full with acid. Your skin healed, your inner organs, however, did not.

A year ago, the symptoms started, now, you were barely able to stand. The blood dripped from your mouth as you finished purging. You smiled as you watched him leave through the window, glad that you made it through another one of you little roles.

You watched as he got into his ship, as he left you alone for another week...another week you weren't sure you would survive. You got the blood cleaned up and grabbed your weapon that was hidden underneath the bed. You smiled as you thought about your best friends, how worried they were when that monster got you. You felt okay afterward...but now.

Yet, you did not stop at your job, not even now. Slowly, you laid it on the bed and went to the bathroom to take a shower, then you got dressed in your armor. You left the house and made your way to the base, smiling when you saw your Chief. "Good morning, Sir.", you smiled, even though it was hard due to the pain in your limbs to move at all without breaking down.

"Good morning, general.", he greeted back, smiling. "I have already waited for you." "What is it now?" "We have detected the creature that attacked you two years ago. We need you to lead the group of men and woman we have specifically trained for it. You have survived it, you know it, so we need you to win."

You swallowed, clearly afraid, yet you nodded. "Yes, I will lead them, tell me where they are, and we will start right now." "They are in the back of the base, already waiting for someone to lead them. Good luck." "Thank you, sir."

Ten minutes later you walked through the abandoned laboratory with your team behind you. Your sick heart was dumbing widely against your chest, your lungs barely able to function, and you were dizzy. "Are you alright, General?", your best friend asked suddenly, and you looked at him/her. You swallowed the blood that made its way up to your throat, fighting the cry of pain for a second before smiling up/down at him/her.

"Yes, I am, thank you.", your voice was low and raspy, but you did not back down. Suddenly, a loud roar echoed through the hall. Your team looked at the direction of the source and found it. "Experiment RTDF.4863", you growled and eyed it, ignoring the fear inside of your mind that told you to retreat since you were too weak to fight.

It roared, instantly recognizing you on your voice and smell. You rose your weapon, ready for a fight, and charged, leaving your group to the other monsters who were already approaching. You didn't last long, your body was far too weak to fight, your brain did not send the messages to move fast enough and your blood was far to thick to allow smooth movement.

It landed a good hit to your chest and you slammed against the wall, groaning in pain. Your vision went blurry, and you could feel how the blood left your body through a large flesh wound on your chest. Now that was it...you were going to die.

You could hear F/N yell your name, but you had no strength left to the response. Soon, the darkness that always seemed so friendly came and wrapped around your damaged body, taking the pain away, lulling you into a deep sleep, where you were not sure if you would ever wake again.

---

The first thing you noticed as you were pushed out of the gentle darkness by a piercing light was the noise of an (I don't know what it is called...sorry). The slow beeps were echoing far too loud in your ears, you felt a mask on your face and felt how it took over breathing for you. You felt everything...but you couldn't move...

Minutes passed, and nothing happened...then suddenly, the door opened, and you heard heavy steps that were approaching your still but yet consciousness form. You knew those sounds, those heavy duds that were still high pitched due to the metal against metal contact. 'Grievous.', you wanted to scream, but you remained still.

"Y/N.", his raspy voice echoed through the room and you heard as he sat at the edge of your bed. You felt a metallic hand gently stroke over your hair, dried with sweat and blood. He sounded so...borken, defeated...and many other things. "Why...", he winced and pressed his faceplate against your hand. You felt the cold...but you felt something else...something wet...tears. A loud sob filled with static sounded fat too loud for his ears.

"Why won't you wake up.", he rasped and pressed his faceplate against your hand. You wanted to move, to kiss him, tell him you were awake...but you couldn't. "Be patient, General.", another voice boomed, and you would wince if you could. It was clearly a male.

"Patient? Patient?!", he roared and the grip on your flesh tightened for a moment before it softened again. "It has been almost a year! And I have almost lost my love for ten times!! And you tell me to be patient?!", he roared. "Yes.", the doctor huffed back, completely unfazed by the loud tune of the General. "Our patient will wake up, we don't know when, but we know that it will happen."

You heard a low, growling noise, then heavy steps that were leaving the room. You felt as Grievous brought your hand up to his eyelids and pressed your finger against the remaining flesh. You brought all your strength to your fingers...and moved them to caress the burnt flesh.

You heard his breath hitch, his grip tightened, and his faceplate pulled away from your fingers. Slowly, you opened your eyes, only to notice that you could not see with your left/right one. "G-Grievous...", you rasped and turned your head to meet his golden eyes. "Y/N...", he rasped and pressed took you in his arms. Weakly, you hugged back, kissing his faceplate.

"You are awake.", he rasped, his voice thick with emotion. "Yes...", came your reply, and you smiled, or at least tried to. "The doctor told me your left/right eye is useless for you now. You are half-blind." "D-Doctor?", you asked. Normally he would say medi-droid. "W-Where are we?", you asked and looked around.

"At the base of the organization you work for.", was his answer. Panic gripped your being. "Y-You know?", you wheezed, only to cry out in pain, he squeezed your hand. "Yes, they have contacted me after that thing almost ripped you apart. Your friend told me everything, who you really are, what you do, and what you suffered for almost a whole year.", Grievous' voice broke in the end and tears started to build in his eyes. "Why didn't you say anything!"

"I was scared.", you croaked your coughing, noting in how much pain you really were. "I had no idea how you'd react to it." "I would have been shocked, yes, but I would not have loved you less. No, not at all.", he wheezed, turning his head for a moment so he could cough freely, returning his sight to you.

"Never.", he finished and pressed his faceplate to your neck. You hugged back, closing your eye, glad you were finally awake. You would return to duty as soon as you come out of this blasted hospital, and you would eliminate Experiment RTDF.4863, but the first thing you would do was to return home with you boyfriend, General Grievous, former Kaleesh, man-killing cyborg, leader of the droid army of the Separatist's, and the love of your scarred live.

(Okay, I think a owe you an explanation of what happened today. Well, you see, Wattpad made a mistake and did not save the story The Alpha Night Blight in the archive. It was gone, so I rewrote and republished it. It took my whole day, but I hope you like it. Sorry, again...😅😅)
