Merry Christmas

A single tear escaped your eyes as you looked into the star-filled sky. It was the 24th of December, your first Christmas without him. Since you got the message of what happened on Utapau, you were a wreck. You didn't leave your house for days, crying, falling into a depression.

You shook your head, it was Christmas, no need for bad thoughts. You have to enjoy your time, even if you were alone. Your right hand went to your chest and grabbed a neckless, the gift of Grievous from last Christmas. He was so nervous that you didn't like it that he was almost afraid to give it to you, the happier he was when you were tearing up and yelled: "I LOVE IT, OH MY GOD THANK YOU GRIEVOUS!!!!!!!!!!!"

A broken sob escaped your lips and the tears now ran freely down your cheeks. I just wasn't fair! You sank down on your knees as you remembered the emotions that ran through your mind when you read the letter.

/Dear Miss L/N

We sadly have to inform you that your friend, General Grievous has fallen in a fight. I am very sorry for your loss. I wish it could have ended differently./

You screamed your heart out that night. Yelling, begging him to come back, to hold you in his strong, metallic arms.

You were crying freely now, sobbing like there was no tomorrow. He promised to be with you that Christmas, but he wasn't. After an hour, you returned into your house, the coldness overwhelming you. You trotted into the living room, sitting down on your couch, staring numbly at the light that the candles gave away.

Even though it was warm, almost hot in your room, you were freezing. Your pet, (p/n) slowly neared you, pressing their nose onto your face, causing you to look up. You smiled at them, but the tears still ran down like a waterfall. You pushed them onto your lap, stroking them. They were your only companion nowadays.

Another broken sob escaped your lips as you buried your face into their skin/fur. You remembered the day he brought them with him, saying that he found them completely lonely and without a mother. You took it in and took good care of it, loving it from the first moment you saw it.

(p/n) made a sad sound. "He isn't coming back, (p/n)...he is never going to come back.", you cried, kissing their forehead. You sat there for hours, holding your pet in your arms, crying and mourning for your dead love...until...

You groaned as you heard the doorbell, but ignored it. But the visitor didn't give up this easily and ranged again, again and again until you finally cried out in frustration. "Alright! I'm coming!" You stood up, which (p/n) didn't like at all by the way, and made your way to the doorbell.

You kicked the door open, almost yanking it out of its frame and glared at your visitor, but the hard stare faded as you looked into two beautiful, glowing, golden reptilian eyes. "G...Grievous...?", you breathed. Your visitor nodded gently, stepping forward pulling you into a hug. You began to cry, pressing your face into the hard metal chest.

He was here, he was alive, he was with you. It took a long time until you finally calmed down. The cyborg was silent, gently stroking your back. He lifted you up and carried into the living room, setting you on the couch.

It didn't take you second and (p/n) came, jumping onto him, liking his metallic frame. The golden reptilian eyes shone with a smile and he stroked the animal a few times before his gaze turned back to you. He sat down next to you and brought his face only one inch before yours. "Hello Y/N.", he breathed, pressing his forehead onto yours. "You're alive...", you winced, tears running down your cheeks again. "Yes, indeed I am. I have missed you."

"I've missed you too!", you cried and kissed his faceplate. "Where were you, and how did you survive?"

"I think I have to thank the promise I made when I left. Hours after the blaster hit me, I woke up. I was in such terrible pain that I did not want to move until I remembered you face full of hope. I fought my way to one of my shuttle on Utpau. I went back to my hideout and repaired myself the best I could, and after that, I came here, back to you, my little treasure. Sadly, I have no present for you."

You face could be described as the child of the Niagara Falls as you pressed it onto his forehead and kissed his eyelids. "Your survival and your presence is the best present I could ever get. Merry Christmas Grievous." "Merry Christmas, my love."

(That was my christmas special for you, I hope you liked it)
