Christmas
had already sprouted
before Thanksgiving
even opened
its eyes,
but now that
the world has
been relieved of
the pressure to
be grateful for
what they
already have,
the season of
wanting and
getting what
you want
officially
begins.
I used to say
Christmas is
not my favorite,
but it surpasses
Thanksgiving
by far.
Despite the
incident with
Grandma Jeff,
I learned something
about Thanksgiving;
the focus
shouldn't be
what I
no longer have
but what I
still have,
especially
the things
I didn't even
notice.
Which sounds
obvious and
cheesy,
but some of us
don't get
the memo until
we almost have
nothing.
