〈 Amanda 〉
"Amanda! Today's the day your aunt Saskia will be moving in the neighborhood!" mom yellled from downstairs.
Being upstairs with music blasting on my room, I barely heard it.
"What?!" I yelled, opening the door and running downstairs.
"I'm sorry I was listening to music and I- I—" she cut me off.
"You always don't hear me, Amanda. One more and i'm gonna sell your speaker." she scolded me.
"Mom—" I whine.
"Don't mom mom me. I said your aunt Saskia is moving today and we should help her move in." she repeated in a mad tone.
"Okay." I replied softly and nodded.
"What are you waiting for? Go change!" she ordered.
I then swiftly went back to my room.
"Blah blah sell your speaker blah blah" I mocked her as I changed into a colorful long sleeve shirt and put on a jumper.
She yells something once again, making me lowen the volume of the speaker. After getting dressed I stepped back downstairs.
"Mom where are they moving in? Beside us or at the front?" I asked, because both places are vacant.
"At the front" she replied, still mad.
"Okay" I replied, extending my super short patience.
Why is her blood always boiling?
"Fix your hair, I don't like that" she said curtly.
"How would you want it to be?" I asked her.
"Anything, just don't let it fall like that. Maybe a pony or something" she suggested.
I thought we'd help aunt to move in, not to go somewhere.
As she commanded, I put my hair into a quick pony and after a few moments they arrived.
"Thank you" Aunt Saskia paid the uber driver as we helped them get their stuff.
                              Wow it was heavy.
"Oh let me help you with that" a blondey held the suitcase I was carrying.
"Thanks" I looked up to him.
                              He looked very familiar.
Cobryn? Corbin? Corbyne? I can't remember honestly. It's been more than a decade when the both of us last saw each other.
I grabbed the boxes that were lighter and put them at the front of the door.
Aunt got the house keys and opened the door.
"Where are the switch— oh" the guy searched for the switches then opened it.
"Woah, it looks cool mom" he nodded.
"Wait do you guys remember each other?" aunt asked.
"Yeah, it was a long time ago. Do you know him, Amanda?" mom added.
"I don't remember him" I shook my head awkwardly.
"Oh well then. Corbyn, this is Amanda and of course Amanda this is Corbyn" aunt said.
"Uh hey. Nice to meet you again, after a long time. Corby Worby, I remember" I chuckled.
Corbyn laughs and we shook hands.
"I remember you completely, Amanda" he took of his hand.
"Alright then! Let's get moving!" Corbyn clapped and we all nodded in agreement.
He gave me a quick smile before looking away.
"So then where do I put this?" Corbyn yelled, referring to a flower vase.
"Just put it beside the stand" Aunt Saskia yelled back as she and mom fix stuff at the kitchen.
"Okay" he yelled.
I just continued to put on the curtains.
"Hey you need some help there?" Corbyn asked, making me face him.
"Yeah, yeah" I said before getting down from the chair I was standing on.
"Looks pretty. Thanks" he puts his hands on his hips and nodded.
"Yeah sure" I replied, smiling.
"What is today?" I asked myself then pulled my phone from the pocket of the jumper.
"Friday" he replied before I even saw the date on my phone.
"Oh, thank gosh tomorrow's weekend." I sighed in relief, making him chuckle.
"You'd be helping me around the school." he said.
"Wait wait wait so, you're telling me you're enrolling at the same school?!" I gasped excitedly.
"Yeah I guess" he shrugged, making me smile.
"Wait i'm excited!" I clapped.
Corbyn placed the empty box aside with the other empty boxes as well.
"Remember when we used to play those winnie the pooh stuffed toys?" I chuckled.
"Not sure, can't remember five year old days" he shrugged.
"It actually just popped in my mind when I saw this" I dryly laughed, pointing at an old toy we used to play with.
"Dang, this thing's here?" he laughed.
"Amanda! Finish unpacking first then talk to Corbyn!" Mom shouted from the kitchen.
                              Okay okay, dang.
"Okay!" I shouted back, then sighed with a smile.
"Still the same old strict Aunt Rose?" he whispered.
"Never changed" I pointed at him.
"Sad" he laughed.
"Sucks but I kind of got used to it. I don't know" I shrugged.
"I think we should continue later after we unpack" he nervously suggested.
"Oh sure" I playfully rolled my eyes and we continued to fix their place.
