"Lilly, it's almost time for us to meet. All this waiting has finally come to an end now that you are home." A strange male voice whispers softly into my ear. My body reacts to it by heating up with a sense of knowing even though I have no idea who the voice belongs to. I feel safe I am dreaming.

"Do I know you?"

"No," he replies, the warmth of his breath tickles my ear and sends a shiver down my spine. "You don't know me yet. But I know you, Lilly."

"How do you know me?" gently twisting to see if I can promptly catch a glimpse of this familiar stranger. He is quick, I intuitively feel him standing close to me. There is the crackle of electricity between us. I'm confused; my body is crying out for his touch, but he promptly denies it.

I asked again, "How do you know me?"

"I've known you all your life." His distinct voice is soft, almost soothing as he speaks affectionately.

"That doesn't make any sense, you know that, right? I think you've got me confused with some other Lilly."

"You forget your dreams so easily? My dearest Lilly, you've been marked, and now we all know you're here. Just be thankful that you are among friends instead of a foe. We shall protect you."

"My mother wrote me a letter telling me that there were people here who'd protect me. That I'd know who they are." I shuddered."Are you one of those who will protect me, are you?"

"You're mother wrote you a letter?"

"Yes."

"Did she say anything else?"

"She told me I was her miracle baby," I tell him. I don't know why I am telling him all this. It might because I know this is nothing more than a dream. Yet it doesn't feel like I'm dreaming. It feels as though it is real.

"Indeed, you are. I am so looking forward to meeting you." A hand runs up the length of my arm and brushes my hair to the side. I feel the heat of his lips upon my neck.

I giggle a little, "This is a dream, right?"

"You're going to be undoubtedly considerable trouble; I can sense it."

"Until next time, little one."

Before I can answer the stranger has vanished and once again I'm alone. My eyes open as if I hadn't been really asleep but just resting. I feel awake and alert, glancing across at the clock that sits next to the bed. I sighed, it's only two in the morning. Thanks, Mister Sexy Dream Stranger.

The end of summer is approaching, not that one would notice it in Paradise End. The past two weeks have gone quickly. Since that first night, I haven't had any more dreams. It is a welcome relief. Uncle Stewart and I have formed our own little routine, which works nicely. He goes to work sometime around mid-morning, comes home for hearty dinner before heading to the local bar. It doesn't bother me. He gives me a decent allowance and on Sundays, I can use his truck. It is a nice arrangement.

Morning sunshine lights up my room, making it warm and welcoming. I noticed the window near the desk was open. A subtle breeze of clean crisp mountain air gently fills the room. Obviously, Stewart had been in my room, I thought, wondering why he hadn't awakened me at the same time. Yawning I slam my hand on my alarm clock. I didn't want to go to school today. Actually, I didn't want to go to school at all.

Slowly, I climb out of bed, wishing that it were still the weekend instead of Monday. I hate Mondays. Mondays always sucked. For the first time in a while, I pop another one of the pills they gave me. Heading to a new school was a daunting experience for anyone, so I wanted to have the advantage of not being a lunatic on my first day.
