"Well good morning to you, have a rough night?" Levi teases, opening up the door of the car for me; Paige is already buckled up in the front.
"Yes." I poke Levi in the chest. "Thanks for the blanket but couldn't you have woken me?"
"You really don't think I tried? You were in a pretty deep sleep and I didn't think you would appreciate me carrying you up into your bed while you were out of it."
"Sorry about that." I blush, feeling guilty. After last night I feel a little awkward around him.
"You slept through, like five of my calls." Paige whines. I slink awkwardly back, pushing against the leather seat.
"It was a late night, sorry."
Levi struggles to hide his laughter. "Not that late princess."
"Shut up." I groan.
"Whatever you say. I'm just the driver."
Paige elbows him in the ribs before turning to me with a smile. "It's ok, at least we are on our way now."
"You look great." I tell her, with hair was pulled back into a slick ponytail and she was wearing a gorgeous maxi dress that looked Grecian in style. She was beautiful. Not as in supermodel, stick thin kind of way but in a sexy, curvy, smart and confident kind of way. It was something that made me green with envy at times. Paige was the kind of woman who would end up married to a doctor or lawyer. She would always look beautiful and have the perfect two children and be on the PTA. If I was lucky I might just make it out of this town, I prayed.
On the other side of the spectrum was Levi, with his faded jeans and tight black tee that gave the impression he wasn't the type of guy who would ever marry...let alone stay out of jail. He would most likely spend the rest of his life working at my Uncle's garage, hopefully not beside me, for the rest of his life. I liked him and knew that deep, deep down, he was nice but this tough guy appearance was still intimidating.
"How was your night?"
She groans. "I so don't even want to talk about it."
"That bad huh?"
"Not even worth me relaying the details."
"I'm sorry." I say giving her shoulder a light squeeze.
"So Lilly, was that the first time you had a beer?" Paige twists in her seat, her eyes wide with surprise.
"Yep."
"I knew it." He teases. "Beer has that effect on those who don't drink."
It's hard to resist the urge to poke my tongue at him. "Ha-dee-ha-ha. So my secret is out. Deep down I'm a goody two-shoes."
"I can't believe I missed that. Was she drunk?" Paige probes Levi who is finding this all so amusing.
"No." I tell her.
"She wasn't drunk, she didn't even make it past two beers. It was pathetic. Two beers and she was out for the count."
"I so wasn't. It was late and I was tried." I protest. Both of them laugh at me.
"Next time we'll do a girls night only, with movies, ice-cream, vodka and cookies." She pokes a finger at Levi. "No beer. Beer tastes like shit anyways. No wonder you ended up falling asleep, probably the better alternative then to keep drinking." Levi rolls his eye's in the rear-view mirror.
"Sounds like a great plan."
Paige lets out a squeal of delight. "I can not wait to organize something."
