Aviva POV

After another day of rest, I was back on my feet. I was cleaning the staircase when I heard a knock on the door. It was the middle of the day, who on Earth could it be? I didn't think Ciel was expecting anyone. I put my supplies down and ended up beating Sebastian to the door.

"Hello, can I help-" I stopped when I saw who it was. His snow-white hair and violet eyes were a dead giveaway. A certain aide to the queen.

"Oh, hello. I was expecting the butler." He said, looking pleasantly surprised.

"I-I'm Aviva. Earl Phantomhive's new maid." I said, frozen in place.

"I see. Well in that case," he said before picking up my hand. "Ash Landers, my lady." He said kissing the back of my hand. I was blushing like crazy. "A letter for the earl." He said handing me a small wax sealed letter. "From her majesty." He said as I took the letter.

"I'll give to him right away." I said briefly looking at the letter.

"I hope we meet again soon, my dear." He said before kissing my hand again. I could feel my face burning. He turned away and I quickly went back inside.

I saw Sebastian on the stairs. His eyes were glowing and I got scared. Shit. He started coming towards me and ended up backing me into the wall. I looked around frantically, trying to find where to run.

"What did he want?" He asked, almost growling. My breath became so shaky. I held the letter for dear life. I just stared at the angry demon before me. "Aviva." He said suddenly. I whimpered. I held the letter up, shaking. He sighed and his eyes went back to normal. I put the letter on his chest and he grabbed it.

Sebastian POV

She pushed the letter into my chest and I grabbed it. I saw the tears build in her eyes. Fuck. Why do I keep scaring her? She's fine after I purposely intimidate her, but I keep...I don't wish to scare her. I don't mean to, I do not trust Ash. When he kissed her hand I felt a wave of anger build-up that I hadn't felt in centuries. She ran out of the front door. I wanted to go after her but I just...couldn't. I sighed before going to my young master's office.

Third person POV

"A letter, my lord." Sebastian said handing Ciel the letter.

"Sebastian." Ciel said looking up at his butler.

"Yes, sir." He said moving the side of the desk.

"Tell Aviva to pack clothes for a few days then go pack my bags. We're going to the country townhouse. We leave as soon as packing's been finished." He said coldly.

"Yes, my lord." Sebastian said before leaving. He was hesitant to go find Aviva after making her run off.

He made his way to the main hall and left through the front door. He tried to follow where she went. He managed to track her to the garden. She was sitting on the ground talking with Finny, his hand was on her back. Sebastian hid behind them to try and get an idea of what she was saying. He could hear she was crying.

"It's ok, Aviva. You know he didn't mean to! Sebastian gives us all a good scare every now and then!" Finny said trying to cheer her up. She nodded.

"I know he didn't mean to Finny I just..." She said before silently crying.

"You know Sebastian would never hurt you. You are his favourite person here." He said rubbing her back. She looked up at him and sniffled. "Everyone knows it. I've never seen him smile so much until you came here." He said. She wiped away tears then quickly stood up. She felt like they were being watched. "Aviva?" He said concerned.

"Sorry, Finny I just...felt something." She said looking around alert. She felt the hairs on the back of her neck stick up. She quickly turned around to see Sebastian. "Sebastian?" She said taking a few steps towards him. He was caught off guard. "Were you-?!" She said angry before storming off and through the front door. Sebastian ran after her.

"Aviva wait." He said following her.

"No thanks." She snapped.

"Aviva." He said sternly, still following her.

"What do you want Sebastian?" She said aggravated, not turning around. She started going up the stairs, leaving him at the bottom. He sighed.

"We may discuss this later. Right now you need to pack, we're going on a small trip." He said stopping.

"Fine. I'll be back in the main hall when I'm done." She said not turning back. He watched her walk off.

(Time skip yeet)

Aviva was ready to go and was just waiting for everyone else. She put on a long coat and sat on the bottom step with her bag and rested her head in her hands. After a few minutes, Ciel and Sebastian came downstairs. She stood up without looking at them.

"Good, you're ready. Let's go." Ciel said walking ahead of her.

"Wait, young master, is it just the three of us?" She asked picking up her bag.

"Yes. We are going to my country townhouse." Ciel said not looking back at her. She followed the two outside. Sebastian tried to help her with her bag, but she ignored him and put it on the carriage herself. She had to sit up front with Sebastian so she brought some entertainment to avoid talking to him. By entertainment, it was a few plays and Utopia.

Sebastian helped Ciel into the carriage the climbed up to the front seat. It was a bit of a step for Aviva so she had no choice but to take his hand to climb up. She sat down about as far away from Sebastian as she could. She wrapped her coat around her and pulled out Taming of the Shrew. Every couple of pages, she would look up at Sebastian. She lost some trust in him and it really upset her.

Every so often while reading, Aviva would laugh quietly. Whenever she did Sebastian would look down at her and smile sadly. He hated it but he felt somewhat...guilty. He's scared enough people for several lifetimes, but with Aviva, it actually affected him.

About halfway through Othello, Aviva started dosing off. And Sebastian noticed.

"Come here." He said looking to her.

"No thanks." She said coldly, trying to focus on her play. He could see her head bobbing, trying to stay awake.

"For goodness sake, Aviva, you can be so stubborn." He said reaching over to her. He wrapped his arm around her waist, and quickly pulled her over to him so she could rest on him.

"What are you-" She started, upset, but was cut off.

"So you can rest, without falling off the carriage." He said bringing her closer, not looking down at her. She huffed and pouted, not wanting to fall asleep on him. However, in her state, she quickly fell asleep.

In that short nap, Aviva dreamt she was back home. She woke up in her bed, in her college dorm. She cried hard enough in the dream to where tears fell onto Sebastian's shirt. He looked down and wiped away her tears. He held her closer, trying to calm her. She turned into him and grabbed his shirt, holding on for dear life. Eventually, the tears stopped and they arrived at the townhouse. Arriving wasn't what woke her up. In her dream, she tried to wake herself up......by jumping out of a window. And it worked. She jumped awake and panicked, scrambling to discern her surroundings.

"Aviva, it's ok. It was just a nightmare." Sebastian said softly, keeping his arm around her and letting go of the reigns. Realizing where she was, she burst into tears. Relieved she was back where she wanted to be, but still terrified of the possibility of going back. Sebastian cupped her cheeks and wiped away her tears. "What happened? What did you see?" He asked softly.

"I...I was back home. I don't want to go back home." She said crying. Sebastian pitied her. This was so out of character for him. As a demon, he was very unsusceptible to most feelings. However, at that moment, all he saw was a scared and sad little kitten. And everyone knows how Sebastian is around cats. He held her close. "Please don't make me go back." She whispered, crying into his chest.
