Third person POV
Sebastian was leading Aviva to the kitchen when she suddenly stopped. She started breathing heavily and seemed to be panicking. Sebastian looked to her then looked back around to see if she saw something. He saw it too. A dark shadow slowly moving towards them.
"No. No, please." She started crying and backing up. The shadow moved faster and started growing and Aviva ran, faster than she had ever run in her life.
"Aviva!" Sebastian called running after her. As he ran, he watched the shadow reach her.
"No!!" Aviva screamed. "Sebastian!" She called before the shadow completely engulfed her.
"Aviva!!" He screamed and reached out to her...but he was too late. She was gone. He looked around frantically. He looked down and saw her headband. He picked it up and held it tight. Ciel stormed into the hallway.
"Why the hell is everyone yelling?" He asked sternly. He saw the headband in his butler's hands. "Where is Aviva?" He asked, not looking up.
"She's gone, my lord. She simply...vanished." Sebastian said not looking up from the headband either.
Meanwhile for Aviva
Aviva woke up on the floor of her college dorm. She jumped up and looked around frantically. All she wanted to do was cry...until she looked down and noticed saw she was still wearing her maid uniform. She cried out of relief; she knew she would be going back.
Quickly, she pulled out her big black suitcase to pack. She grabbed as many clothes as she could and packed. Aviva grabbed her makeup, the little jewelry she had, and shoved them in her suitcase. She grabbed her purse and put inside her wallet, her favourite book, and a picture of her with her mom, dad, and grandmother. The last thing she packed was her periodic table blanket and her stuffed dog, Henry. Aviva went around making sure she grabbed whatever she couldn't bear to part with. She walked around slowly and decided there was nothing left for her to take. Aviva sat on her suitcase with her purse around her shoulder and waited to be brought back.
Back in the Phantomhive Townhouse
The townhouse was quiet. It left Ciel and Sebastian more than uneasy. Sebastian had just escorted Madame Red out for the night. He lingered by the open door, hoping Aviva would somehow make her way back. He sighed then walked back to Ciel in the game room. He was looking out the window.
"Any sign of her, Sebastian?" Ciel asked not looking away from the window. Sebastian pulled her headband out of his coat pocket and looked down at it.
"I'm afraid not, my lord." He said, trying not to show any emotion. Ciel sighed.
"Very well. I'm tired. I wish to go to bed now." Ciel said turning away from the window. Sebastian quickly put the headband away.
"Of course, my lord." Sebastian said placing his hand on his chest and bowing.
Sebastian let Ciel retire for the evening and went to the hallway Aviva vanished from. He held her headband in his hands and ran his thumb over the fabric. He walked around the townhouse. He just kept walking. He walked around for hours, hoping Aviva would show up. Around 4 am, he decided he would get some sleep, a luxury for him.
(Time skip)
Aviva woke back up outside just after the sun rose. She yawned and sat up trying to figure out where she was. When she saw she was just outside the townhouse, she grabbed her things and bolted inside. She quietly closed the door, as to not wake anyone. Aviva couldn't have been happier to see the townhouse. She left her suitcase in the main hall and went to the kitchen. She noticed some dishes left in the sink and thought that it was odd that Sebastian didn't finish. He always finishes. She rolled up her sleeves and went to finish the dishes.
Sebastian woke up and got ready for the day. Before he left his room he looked at his nightstand and picked up Aviva's headband. He sighed and put it in his coat pocket. He left his room and made his way to wake up Ciel. But he stopped on the way to check Aviva's room. It was empty so he left. He opened the doors to Ciel's room and woke his young master. After dressing him he went to go make breakfast. He opened the doors to the kitchen to see Aviva at the stove, humming and already cooking Ciel's breakfast. She turned to him and smiled brightly.
"Good morning Sebastian!" She chimed. "You left some dishes out yesterday. Very unlike you. Is everything alright?" She said as she cooked. Sebastian was almost dumbfounded, she was acting as if nothing happened. He rushed over to her and pulled her away from the stove. She was a bit of a mess. She looked like she just woke up. "Sebastian?" Aviva asked confused.
"You're back." He said. She smiled and nodded. "Are you alright?" He asked, checking if she was hurt.
"Sebastian, I'm fine." She said smiling. "You on the other hand..." She said looking down at his coat and tie. The buttons were off and the tie was a bit crooked. "This is so unlike you." She said concerned. She unbuttoned his coat and fixed the buttons, then straightened his tie. He just let her fix it. "There. Much better. Are you alright? Dishes left out, your uniform off..." She said looking at him. He just stared at her. She smelled something funny and ran back to the stove. Whatever she was cooking was burning. She salvaged a few almost burnt pancakes.
"What the hell happened?" Sebastian asked. "Where on earth did you go?" He asked walking over to her. She just smiled.
"Could you please set up a tray so I can take breakfast to the young master?" She asked not looking up from her cooking. He nodded and did as she asked. After a few minutes, she plated his breakfast and tea. She turned to Sebastian. "I'll be back in a minute. I'll try and explain what happened when I get back." Aviva said before picking up the tray and going to leave.
"Wait." Sebastian called and went over to her. He pulled out her headband and put it on her head. "You dropped this while running." He said tucking some of her hair behind her ear.
"Thanks, Sebastian." She said smiling sweetly at him. She turned and left to Ciel's study. She walked to the study and knocked on the door.
"Enter." Ciel said coldly. Aviva walked in.
"Good morning, master Ciel!" She chimed walking over to him. He saw her and jumped up.
"Aviva! You're back!" He said, trying not to sound too excited. He would never admit to it, but he was fond of Aviva.
"I am, sir. I apologize for the sudden inconvenience, but I'm sure it won't happen again." She said putting the tray in front of him.
"What the hell happened?" He asked sitting back down.
"Well...I went back to where I'm from." She said stepping back.
"You went home?" He asked, very confused.
"In a way, my lord. I was given the chance to bring back my possessions." Aviva said smiling. "For breakfast, I have made you some chocolate chip pancakes with bananas and of course for tea, earl grey." She said pouring his tea. Ciel looked up at her and got serious.
"We're catching Jack the Ripper. Tonight." Ciel said. "I'd like you to be by my side with Sebastian. There are weapons in the game room. I'd like you to be armed." He said. Aviva put her hand on her chest.
"Of course, my young master. I am merely a pawn for you to use in whatever way you see fit." She said bowing. Ciel nodded and dismissed her.
