Chapter 2: The Swindler

"Dad?"

Mina walks around frantically as she hears the alarms going off. She can't hear his thoughts. She can't sense his presence." Mina thinks positively as he might not be home and it's a malfunction. She gasps as she makes her way into his study. Mina says weakly, "Dad? This is just a prank right? Dad?"

She walks towards the body on the ground and starts to tear up as she notices the blood covering the floor. Mina curses under her tears, "You can't leave me too!" She tries to feel his pulse and give him mouth to mouth but its all ineffective as there's a hole through his chest. Mina regains herself and starts to think straight.

She sprints her way to the camera room to see that all of them are shut down. Mina turns on the computer and notices that the whole manor lost electricity for the past 2 hours. Mina calls the police and spends the time waiting with her dad.

The next day...

Momo asks Chaeyoung, "Did Mina drop out already? Where is she?" Chaeyoung replies, "Oh she just went to see her dad, it's her mother's death anniversary today." Yoongi slaps her arm and says, "You shouldn't go spreading her personal life with anyone" She pouts and says, "Momo isn't just anyone but I do see your point." The teacher walks in and says, "Everyone, we have a late transfer joining us today. Please introduce yourself." The handsome man says, "Hello, I'm Jin. And no, I'm not an angel." The class chuckles at his confidence as he makes his way to an open seat."

The teacher looks around and asks, "Where's Mina and Jimin?" Chaeyoung says out loud, "Mina's not coming today because of family." Namjoon speaks up, "Jimin is sick." He nods and starts the lesson. Before they go to lunch, the teacher announces that teams for the Tournament of Heroes are due by next month. Everyone nods and heads to lunch.

Momo sits next to Chaeyoung and Yoongi then says, "Did you hear about that mansion that was robbed?" Chaeyoung's head perks up and says, "Don't tell me it's Myoui Manor?" Momo looks at her surprised and says, "How'd you know? I read that the owner was killed too." Chaeyoung tenses up and turns to Yoongi then says, "Can you bring me to Mina's apartment?" He nods and she hops on his back. At the speed of light, he flies towards Mina's apartment.

Yoongi ends up napping on her couch as Chaeyoung constantly knocks on Mina's door. It's locked but her sobs can be heard from outside. Chaeyoung says, "Mina, I heard what happened. If you want to talk about it, I'm here." The door opens and she gazes at the thick blanket covering Mina. Chaeyoung turns on the lights and looks at her face.

Tears dried up on her cheeks, eyes puffy and red, and he skin is pale. Chaeyoung touches her cheek and as contact is made, Mina lets Chaeyoung in her head. She witnesses the entire scene that caused Mina to be like this and it brings her to tears. Its Chaeyoung's turn to cry as she embraces Mina in a hug. After minutes of comforting her and cheering her up, Chaeyoung finally brought Mina out of her room to eat.

Yoongi is fast asleep on the couch and the two head to the kitchen. Chaeyoung asks, "What did the police say?" Mina drinks water then says, "It was a person from YG Incorporated. They don't know who but it's confirmed that it's from that company." She asks, "How are they sure?" Mina says, "They were tipped by an anonymous person and the police seemed to confirm it but they can't investigate anymore because YGI has connections with a lot of high ranking people."

Chaeyoung sighs and says, "What are you going to do?" Mina drinks her water again and says, "I've already been living without my dad for a while now so it shouldn't affect me too much. All the property will be going to my brother which I don't mind and I'm receiving some money from his will but it really doesn't change anything. I'm just... sad." Chaeyoung sighs again and says, "I was so worried when I saw the news, I had Yoongi break me out of school for this. So stop crying."

Mina chuckles and nods.

Later that day...

Hoseok knocks on Jimin's door and says, "Jimin, I bought some medicine and food." No reply. He knocks again and says, "Come on, you have to eat to recover. I'm busting down the door if you don't open up." He hears the door unlock and makes his way in. Hoseok sets the food on a table and sits on the edge of his bed.

He looks at Jimin worried and says, "Are you feeling better?" Jimin shakes his head and says, "I fucked up." Hoseok turns confused and says, "What do you mean?" Jimin corrects himself, "I'm fucked up, I need some food." He smiles back and says, "Ahh, here I got your favorite."

After eating and taking the medicine, Jimin thanks Hoseok, "Thanks, I felt like I was going to die." Hoseok says, "Well, we needed to make sure you're healthy. We signed you up for our TOH team. Competition is fierce this year." Jimin chuckles and says, "So that's what this is about, don't worry. We'll never lose."

Hoseok smiles back and says, "Just rest, the teacher excused you today because Jihyo talked to him. So don't worry about detention." Jimin smiles and says, "I have the best of friends." Hoseok nods and says, "We are the friends everyone wishes they had. Now go to rest."

...

The following day, Mina and Jimin return to school. They're greeted as usual and as she guessed, no one is wondering if anything happened to her. Mina sighs in relief knowing that her personal problems stay personal. As she walks down the hall towards her next class, a guy bumps into her dropping all her books.

Mina says, "Sorry." Then continues to pick up all her books as the guy stares down at her. Mina starts to blush as he just stands there and watches her pick up the books he clearly dropped. Mina bows and starts walking to her classroom muttering, "What's his problem?"

Hoseok sees Jimin standing still in the hallway and asks, "Is there anything wrong?" He shakes his head as he tries to realize what just happened. As soon as he made contact with that girl, he had a vision. It's a memory. Of the man he killed on the ground. Jimin thinks to himself, "How did she know that man?" Hoseok waves his hands over his eyes as he says, "Earth to Jimin."

Jimin asks, "Who was that girl?" Hoseok smirks and says, "She's new here. I think her name was Myoui Mina." He whispers, "Myoui?" Hoseok says, "Why, do you like her?" Jimin ignores him and walks into the classroom. As he walks into the classroom, he sees her again.

Jimin chooses to sit next to her which weirds Mina out a lot. She gazes at him but he turns his head and their eyes lock. Mina feels uncomfortable and whispers to Chaeyoung, "Hey, can we switch seats?" Chaeyoung agrees with no hesitation and Mina moves up. Jimin keeps his eyes on her feeling guilty for what he did.

The teacher walks in and says, "Good morning everyone. We're going to have a project coming up and I assigned you all into groups of three. The groups are..." Mina starts to zone out while he says the group waiting for her name to be called.

"Myoui Mina. Kim Seokjin. Park Jimin. And that's the groups. Any complaints?"

The class says completely synchronized, "No." He smiles back at them and says, "I have to go to an appointment. You can do whatever, just stay in the classroom." Everyone nods as he leaves the room.

Chaeyoung taps Yoongi's shoulder and says, "Fly me home?" Yoongi shrugs her off and says, "Can't, I just used my powers." She pouts and says, "What? Why?" He says, "X-ray vision." He stares at her and she slaps his face. Chaeyoung whines, "Pervert!" Yoongi giggles then falls asleep on his desk.

Mina goes on her phone but notices someone standing in front of her desk. She raises her head and the guy says, "Hi, I'm Jin. We're in the same group."
