Chapter 8: The Kiss

Mina wakes up in the morning feeling fully rejuvenated. No nightmares. She walks downstairs as she hears hushes. Mina chuckles and says, "I know you guys are there. Surprises never work on me." Chaeyoung curses out, "We're getting you one day." Mina meets them in the kitchen to be greeted by Chaeyoung holding out a poster that says, "Happy Birthday." and Yoongi in a cute party hat holding a balloon saying, "Happy Birthday." The two say in unison, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"

Mina giggles and embraces the two in a hug. Chaeyoung says, "We baked you a cake, so hurry up and eat breakfast so we can eat the cake then get school over with and go to your surprise party."

She sighs and says, "Not this again, it was a disaster last time." Chaeyoung looks at her and says, "It was just a fire. It was fun, right Yoongi?" He nods and Mina complains, "But you always agree with her! It wasn't fun!" Chaeyoung looks at Yoongi and says, "Wait, you don't always agree with me. Right?" Yoongi nods and Chaeyoung says, "See! Now stop crying and eat."

Mina pouts and starts to eat breakfast with the two. They soon arrive at school and bump into Jimin. He looks at three and says, "You three are acting happier today." Chaeyoung squints at him and says, "You've been hanging out with us a lot lately. What happened to your old friends?" Jimin says, "I still talk to them, I guess we just share a lot of classes together."

Mina then says, "If you're still wondering why we are happy today, it's a special day." Jimin chuckles and says, "What's so special about Tuesdays?" Yoongi says, "It's Mina's birthday." Jimin's eyes widened and he raises his voice, "What!? You should've told me! I didn't get you anything, wait here. I'll be back with a gift, I promise."

School goes by slowly as Mina starts to get excited for her birthday party. As soon as the bell rings, Mina rushes outside to meet with Chaeyoung and Yoongi. Chaeyoung chuckles and says, "Someone is excited." Mina giggles and says, "Come on! This surprise party isn't going to throw itself!" They head to Mina's house as Yoongi helps her out with the blindfold. Chaeyoung says, "Promise not to use your powers?"

Mina nods as they guide her through the front door. Chaeyoung says, "You can take them off now." Mina takes it off and glances at the prepared party. Her heart turns soft as the reused Happy Birthday banner hangs over a table with a big cake a few of her new friends. Jimin stands there with Momo, Chaeyoung, and Yoongi.

Momo brings the cake and says, "Make a wish!" Mina closes her eyes then blows on the candle. Jimin asks, "So what did you wish for?" Momo laughs and says, "Are you stupid? She can't tell anyone or else it won't come true!" Jimin pouts and says, "You didn't have to go that far." They soon start eating then give their presents.

Chaeyoung hands over a gift bag and says, "Open it! I want to see your reaction!" Mina opens the gift bag which reveals a penguin onesie. Mina squeals and Chaeyoung hugs her. Chaeyoung says, "I know you always wanted one and I bought a matching tiger one!" Mina hugs her back and says, "It's perfect." Momo then hands another gift bag which reveals a designer bag that Mina always dreamed of having. Mina says, "WHAAA! How'd you get this? It's thousands of dollars!" Momo chuckles nervously and says, "Secret." Definitely didn't steal it...

Yoongi then says, "My present is over there." He points a giant box standing in the kitchen and Mina asks, "What is it?" He says blankly, "Your refrigerator was old so I got you a new one." Mina hugs him and says, "Thank you?" She then faces Jimin and he says, "Can we ummm, talk privately?" Momo and Chaeyoung get the hint while Yoongi asks, "Why?"

The two girls push him out of the room as Mina stares at him expectantly. Jimin starts to blush as this was easier when he practiced with his pillow. He breathes in and out then hands over a small box. Jimin says, "I didn't know what to get you since we met just recently so it was hard for me to come up with something. I literally spent all day in school researching the perfect present for a girl. I asked every single girl in school and Namjoon. They all said different things but it helped me figure out the perfect gift."

Mina holds the box while staring at him in the eyes. Jimin says, "I know we haven't really talked a lot together and both of us are kind of shy. But I kept asking myself, 'Why do I keep hanging out with Mina? Why did I abandon my 5 year long friends to try and talk to a girl I just met?' Then it hit me, I found what gift I could give you."

Jimin scratches his nape and says, "I know it's cheesy but... I'm giving the... the.. the gift of love?" Mina's eyes widened as she tries to grasp the secenario. She asks confused, "W-what do you mean?" Jimin sighs and says, "Mina, I think I love you." She looks at him shocked and he continues, "Will you be my girlfriend?" Tears start to form in her eyes as she'd dream of this moment every single night since she met Jimin.

A boy confessing to her so perfectly on a perfect day. What made it better was that Jimin was the boy. Mina nods and forms a smile. Jimin then eyes the gift and she takes the hint and opens it. It's a beautiful mint green rose necklace. She says, "It's beautiful." She stares into Jimin's eyes and he nears in for a kiss.

Mina closes her eyes and their lips connect. Jimin intertwines their hands together as they are connected by a sensual but innocent kiss. They break away and Mina asks, "Where'd you find this jewel?" Jimin chuckles and says, "Research. It matches with my ring too." He flashes his ring and Mina's eyes widened. She stutters, "W-where'd you get that ring?"

Jimin asks her, "I don't remember, why have you seen it before?" Mina stutters, "T-that's my mom's ring..." Suddenly, Mina's eyes flash red and she stands straight and turns quiet. Jimin looks at her weirdly and says, "Mina? Are you ok?"

A loud voice from all directions says, "Moon child, well done." Jimin looks around frantically and yells, "WHAT DID YOU DO TO MINA!" The voice chuckles and says, "All I did was enter the door you opened for me." Jimin asks confused, "I opened?" The voice laughs maniacally and says, "That gift of yours, that kiss. It opened the gate that was blocking me from Myoui's mind. Thank you boy."

Jimin then yells, "HELP! YOONGI! CHAEYOUNG! MOMO!" The voice says, "It's no use. You're the only one in this building that's concious. That ring you stole is protecting you from me. That same power locked me out of Myoui's mind but you disabled it. Now, come home moon child."

Jimin stares at the emotionless Mina as she walks out the door. He grabs her arm and says, "Mina, I know you're in there. Please, you're stronger than this." The voice repeats, "She is in there. The only thing Myoui can't control is her body so she's witnesssing all of this unfold. But what confuses me the most, is why she accepted you? How could she love the one that murdered her father?"

Jimin weakly let's go of her arm as tears start flowing out of Mina's eyes. The voice repeats, "Come home moon child. I'll stop your pain." Mina then walks out with Jimin being too weak to chase after her.
