Chapter 13: Tournament of Heroes

Tournament of Heroes

The schoolwide tournament where a team of 5 battle it out in both brawns and brains to see who the strongest team is.

Gather a team of 5 members.

3 of these 5 members will seek combat while the other 2 strategize and coach during the battles. It will be a 1v1 format and the best of 3. Each team will be set up in a single elimination bracket, the grand finals will be watched not only by the school but also by the community.

We are to express the strength and intelligence of our students and showcase the prestigeness of our school.

Jimin closes the email and glances around the hallway. It seems like everyone is forming their own team this year. He walks towards Mina and says, "Morning Minari~" She smiles back and says, "Morning, babe." He pauses in shock and stutters, "D-did you just call me babe?" She blushes and says, "If it weirds you out, I can stop."

Jimin hushes her lips and says, "No, I love it! It just surprised me." Mina smiles back at him and says, "I'm glad you love it." He says cheekily, "Do you love it?" Mina says back, "Yeah, I also love you." Jimin's eyes disappear as his smile deepens and says, "I love you too."

They hear someone gag behind them and notices that Jaebeom and Jennie stand behind the two. Mina greets them, "Morning!" The two greet her back as Jennie says, "So Mina, did you think about our offer?" Jimin asks her, "Offer?" Mina says, "Jennie and Jaebeom asked me to be in their TOH team. And I accepted, just now."

Jennie smiles brightly and says, "We're signing up. We can meet up... this afternoon?" Mina glances at Jimin then at Jennie and says, "I'm kinda busy... I have a... date." Jennie chuckles and says, "Well, tomorrow afternoon it is. I'll text you."

The siblings leave as Jimin turns to Mina and asks, "You formed a team with them?" Mina nods as she places her books in her lockers and Jimin says disappointed, "Without me?" Mina stops what she's doing and turns to him feeling guilty. She says, "I-I assumed you were going with Jihyo and Namjoon. I'm sorry... I can lea-"

Jimin chuckles and says, "I'm joking. I did join those two, we're looking to win it again this year." Mina raises her eyebrow and says, "Who said you're going to win?" Mina smirks at him and says, "I did." Jimin squints his eyes as he says, "I'm going to wipe that smirk off your face." Mina challenges him, "Do it, I dare you." He chuckles and says, "You are really challenging me, Myoui Mina? Come here!"

He embraces her in a hug trapping her arms within his as he pecks her lips. Suddenly, a book smacks the back of Jimin's head and he groans in pain. Jimin releases her as the guy says, "Get a room, you're making the single people feel lonely." He sighs and says, "I forgot you go here." Jin smiles brightly and says, "Wow, after all these years, you forget about me. Don't worry, you'll remember me when we beat you in the Tournament of Heroes."

Jimin raises an eyebrow, "We?" Jin nods then points at Mina, "We're in the same team. And honestly, I don't think anyone can beat our full proof plan." The two fist pump as Jimin smirks, "We'll see, there's a reason my team is the best of the best." Jin points at Jimin's face and says mischievously, "I'm going to wipe that smirk of your face."

Jimin gets a feeling of deja vu and says, "I dare you." Jin holds his arms out as he tries to bind Jimin in a hug. Jimin screams and starts running away as Jin chases after him trying to wipe the smirk off his face.

Soon lunch begins and the friend group goes to their tables. As Mina and Jimin arrive, they see Namjoon and Jaebeom glaring at each other with Jihyo and Jennie hiding their faces in embarassment. Mina quickly reads their minds then sighs in disappointment. Jimin asks, "What's going on?"

The two turn their heads to Jimin and glare at him. He feels shivers down his spine as the two stare at him very attractively and intimidatingly. Namjoon says, "Cats or dogs?" Jimin's eyes widened as he answers completely stunned, "What?" Jaebeom says, "Which is a better pet, a gentle and soothing cat or a loud, annoying, and dirty dog?"

Namjoon stands up and pushes Jaebeom's shoulder as he says, "Don't talk about them like that! There's a reason why they call dogs the man's best friend! There's a reason people tend to avoid cat ladies!" Jaebeom shoves him back and says, "You're stereotyping everyone who has a cat! I'm nothing like a weird cat lady! RIGHT MOMO!"

Out of nowhere she is brought into the conversation. Momo answer completely scared, "Y-yeah." Namjoon turns to her and yells, "DOGS ARE MORE RELIABLE THAN CATS! RIGHT MOMO!" Momo replies again scared, "Y-yeah." The two turn simoustaneously at Momo as they ask, "So which one is it, cats or dogs?"

Momo stays quiet in the pressure as Hoseok giggles from the background. He says, "Ok guys, you need to calm down a bit. Maybe, this is getting too far." Jaebeom turns to him and slightly pushes him, "Too far? Namjoon started it when he insulted my babies!" Namjoon chuckles and says, "Sounds like a crazy cat person to me."

Jaebeom's eyes turn firery red as he says, "Then let's settle this like men." Namjoon clenches his fists and says, "I definitely agree." Jimin and Jungkook walks in between them to stop the incoming altercation. The two pull their phones out as Namjoon says, "Show them your best video of your cats. We're voting on this." Jaebeom adds on, "Like men."

After showing cute pictures and videos and casting the votes, the two look at the results. It's a draw. Namjoon sighs and says, "I guess, it's preference." Jaebeom adds on, "Yeah, some people are just into cats and others are into dogs." Everyone's jaws drop at the anticlimactic ending of what could have been the fight of the century.

Jihyo rubs her forehead and says, "I swear to god Jisoo, you two are the dumbest people alive." Jennie pats her shoulder as she agrees with her, "All hail god Jisoo."
