Abduct

The place is too hot now, mas mataas ang temperatura sa araw na ito kaysa kahapon.  But she's still feeling the pang of pain in her, when she recalls the woman yesterday. That thought sent shiver down her spine even if the temperature is very hot.

Shane came out from nowhere bringing her clipboard.

"Doc? Are you okey?" She was startled when she turned to her.

"Ahm! Yeah-yes! I guess so, it's just so hot right now" ngumiti si Shane sa kanya at lumapit.

"You look pale. Drink some gatorade to avoid dehydration, the weather is a bit off today and it's a trouble if you'll get sick", anito.

"I will, thank you for reminding me..." She smiled again and went to the medical hub.

The people around us have been busy. Our security details are also preparing the wheels we're using. Arwaj is on the main door of the Chief's office, he's talking with the details in-command. Arwaj is a friendly Libyan, but we do not know whom to trust. He's one of the locals around who's working for the Libyan government, but who knows? We don't know who's side he's side with.

"You ready?!" Biglang sulpot ni Brij Kapoor sa gilid ko.

"Hey!" I hold my breath. Nakakagulat naman ang isang 'to.

"Why so fidgety?" kunot noo nitong sabi sa akin.

"I do--don't know..."

"Just relax. Drink some water. You need that, you look pale" sabi nito bago ako iwan at tinungo na nito ang mga nakahilerang SUV kung saan kami sasakay maya-maya.

Ganoon paman ay sinunod ko ang bilin ni Shane at Brij na uminom ng maraming fluids, maalinsangan ang panahon na tila uulan pero hindi mo masabi.

Malala and Cris traveled to New York for some conference, sila lang ang naiwang in-charge sa mission. Kasama niya ang ilan pang doktor at nurses. Sa araw na iyon ay lima lamang silang deployed sa field. Siya, si Brij, Shane, Todd, at si Aria Wards, ang doktor na nagpapa-anak ng mga buntis.

Aria is a white doctor, american. Brij is a handsome Indian while Shane and Todd are both black. Siya ay isang quadrant, with a Filipino-chinese mother plus american-spanish father. That makes her a chinky eyed white doctor. Sounds profound beauty but, scary, in a place displaced by war.

"Dr. Albert, we'll go at 3"  Chase's handsome face popped at the food hub's entry way.

"Sure!" sabi ko naman habang inuubos ang blue gatorade. Sinundan ko siya habang naglalakad patungo sa aming SUV. Dalawa lang ang kotseng gagamitin dahil sa lima lang kaming lalabas sa safety haven na iyon. Ang kasunod namin ay ang aming details.

"Area 2, a bit shady" sambit ni Chase while driving the car. Sa tinagal ba naman ng panahong kasa-kasama niya ang mga taong nagpoprotekta sa kanila tuwing nasa mission sa iba't ibang lugar, alam na niya ang ilan sa mga terminologies ng mga ito. At sa sinabi ni Chase sa ear piece, it means, the area is not good.

Kinapa ko sa aking hita ang nakalagay doong baril na hinanda ko na.  Hindi iyon klaro dahil natatabunan iyon ng doctor's robe. Nilingon ko ang aking mga kasama sa likod ng sasakyan, nakapikit si Shane na animo'y nagdarasal, habang chill lang naman sa upuan si Brij, Aria at Todd.

"You aim good?" tanong ni Chase sa akin.

"I think so," sagot ko sa kanya.

"I need an answer Doc" ulit nito.

"6 out of 10 Chase! That's all I've got, I am 8/10 when we speak about how to fire, but not aiming"

"Alright. That will do for sure"
