Key's POV:
Running my fingers through my hair, I lay myself down on the carpet in my room. A week has passed and she was still missing. My parents has just got back yesterday and I had to get myself home before them. Minho was still searching for her with Jonghyun, leaving Taemin guard her house in case she comes back. Just... in case.
"Kibum! There's dinner down here!"
Now mom's calling me. A small sigh escaped from my lips as I getting up. My hair is a mess from that laying down on the carpet but I don't bother to make it right. I was halfway downstairs when I heard a somewhat familiar voice from the kitchen. I decided to stop my tracks and listen to what they say.
"--we had a campaign speech that day and we really need his help to make it work, Mrs. Kim. His ideas are wonderful"
"True enough, he won a couple of speech contest in his school but meh...that was years ago. But I'm surprised when you mentioned a campaign speech and him. He took it from me"
And....that's mom. I peeked a bit from where I was standing and saw two men with his back facing me and mom sitting opposite of them. I guess a mother's instinct is strong because our gaze met in a second and I have no chance to back away.
"Oh, Kibum! Honey, would you come here a sec?"
There it is... I slowly step out of the shadow, I mean the wall and set my tracks to my mom. I walk up beside her and face the men...
Huh!?
"Yo, Kibum" Jonghyun grinning from ear to ear.
"What's up, Key?" Taemin waved.
"You...what're you guys doing here?"
"Why you didn't tell me you're joining the campaign speech, honey? Are you trying to keep secrets now?" Mom's face began to frown. When my gaze sets to both of them, their eyes sparkled like making me to convince my mom about this whole campaign thing...or more to searching _____.
"I was planning to surprise you soon but--"
"But we're ruined it for you, the least you could do is to tell your mom about it. Come on, we gotta go"
Taemin was about to leave the kitchen but I hold him off."Gotta go where?"
"My place" Jonghyun replied.
"But dinner--"
"Is in here"
I turn to see my mom bringing me a paper bags, steam came out and I realize she packed the dinners for me. I was wondering what did they told her tonight...
"Your favorite. Now go and make me proud" she said before pulling my forehead for a kiss. I never expect her doing that in front of everyone. Well, in front of them both. Red began tinted my cheeks as I pull myself away and seeing the two of them trying hardly not to smile. I narrow my eyes to them and face mom.
"I will"
Reluctantly, I kiss her cheeks and head to the door with them. After closing the door behind me, I leaned my ears to the door, expecting to hear her footsteps would come near the door and open it. But she never did. Every child wishes their parents would come out and wave them goodbyes before leaving home, well not permanently but just in case if they don't return to their homes again, they would have their last goodbye. I felt what she feels everday. As I thought about her, tears threatening to break my walls. A week without seeing her, touch her, having a silly nitwit conversation certainly making me misses her more.
A gentle touch on my shoulder bringing me back to reality. I blink away a few tears, not wanting them to see me broken inside.
"Let's go, Key"
Taemin's voice somehow giving me a bit of ease from everything. Her disappearance, my parents. After they teleport themselves and me, we arrived in front of her house. All still spic and span, but something's missing. It doesn't feel like home. Everything's in place, but no. It feels...
"Empty. I know" Taemin chimed in.
My eyes glued to the Polaroid camera that was nestled on the shelves along with her pictures and family in the frame. Jonghyun stands beside me, folding his arms. We watched Taemin getting closer to the shelves where the Polaroid camera was and he slowly took it in his hands with care. When he did, a few pictures that were laid under the camera has fell to the floor, taking our attention. Taemin picked it up between his fingers, eyes watching every bit of the content. He slowly walked to us and give me the pictures.
When I take it from him, I bit my lower lip to save myself from burst out crying like previous nights before. The blood in my mouth was nothing compared to the pain inside me that was raging furiously. The memories of us together piling up in the back of my mind after I saw the pictures. It was me cooking the breakfast with unexplained expression that was plastered very nicely on my face. The other one was herself sticking out her tongue with me in the background eating the bacon with half messed up lips covered in grease. A slight chuckle manage to escape my trembling lips and my chin begin to wobble.
I'm trying to hold the tears from falling so I sat myself on the couch with my head hung low as possible. Even just for a few days with her, the connection between us was much stronger than I thought it would be. Few days usually just a normal talks or trust slowly began to be earned by both sides, or secrets began to be unraveled by either of them. But _____? She's different from anyone that I've met in my lifetime. My chin wobbles and I couldn't hold it anymore, putting the pictures on my chest tightly with a hope she knows that I miss her very terribly.
Author's speech (srsly?)
Finally a chapter has been published after so long been missing under the radar completing school's assignments and stuff but since Christmas is on the way, I may have the time to complete this book (if that's possible 😂) I realized I haven't shown enough Key's character of being the reader's best friend and how her disappearance can make such a big impact in his life. So I thought, why not give him a chance to shine his character? 😉 anyways, I'm sorry if the chapter's a bit low but that's a start for me to continue this book after a few months being left behind, a bit slow but it's a start. And 700 reads?? I still couldn't believe the number reaches hundreds and I hope to see it coming 😍 thank you so much for reading this fanfic! Enjoy❤❤❤
XOXO Stay Shawol 😘
