Bailey
"Bailey. Bailey Jean. Bails. Bai. Bai-by."
"Corey so help me god I am going to kill you" I mumble as I roll around in the bed.
"But then I can't give you your present" he claims.
I open one eye as I turn back over to look at him. I despised how awake he was at this time in the morning. Every. Single. Morning. "What kind of present" I wonder.
"A birthday one" he smirks.
I hit him in the head with a pillow and he lets out a grunt. I start to giggle before he jumps on top of me and starts to tickle me. "Corey stop" I demand between the laughter. He continued his attack until my face is bright red. Once he was satisfied with his attack he rolls out of bed and tries to get me to come with him.
"Alright, get up" he says as he hops up in bed.
"I can't even breathe" I gasp as I try to get some air.
"Catch your breath and come on. I don't think your birthday present has much patience" he claims.
I look at him weird as he crawls out of bed. "I'm sorry what" I ask.
"Come on" he eggs on. No further explanation, just blind trust that usually gets me in trouble one way or another.
He grabs my hand and pulls me up and I let out a groan. He pulls me into the living room and to the couch before I plop down into my spot. I let out a over dramatic groan as I try to stay awake, but I was so tired. It had to be like 8 am or something like that. Maybe I should have asked to sleep in for my birthday.
"Can I get my present and go back to bed" I whine. I really really wasn't a morning person.
"Sure thing" he promises me.
I feel something heavy on my lap and let out a soft grunt. I look down and see a big brown ball of fur. I then see two ears and a black nose and suddenly I was very awake.
"Corey" I squeal causing the puppies head to pop up. It looks up at me and I thought I was going to melt right there.
"Yes honey" he smirks.
"What did you do" I ask as I pick up the puppy. I turn it to me and get a good look at it.
"I know you missed your dogs back home and Mark kept the one you guys took in so I got you this little guy. He can keep you company when I'm gone and give you all the cuddles you want" he says.
"Well aren't you just the cutest thing ever" I ask the little doggie. It licks my nose and I'm pretty sure I'm falling in love again.
"She doesn't have a name yet. I wanted you to name her" he insists.
I get a good look at her as I scrunch up my nose. She tilts her head to the side as she looks at me. "How about... Roxy" I say.
"I mean she's your dog" he claims and I laugh.
"She is and she's perfect" I insist.
"God... I wish you talked about me like that" he jokes.
"Watch it mister or you're the one in the dog house" I scold.
We play with the dog for hours before she got tired of it. So we put her in the dog bed Corey chose and let her rest. I get a collar on her and we were going to get the tag done sometime later today. For right now I was going to keep enjoying my birthday.
"Where do you want to go for dinner" Corey wonders as he joins me on the couch. He pulls me into his lap and I curl up.
"I don't really want to go anywhere" I admit.
"But it's your birthday, you always go out on your birthday" he insists.
"I know. But we always go out. I kinda want to stay in and be with you all day today. We can order pizza and watch Fast and Furious one through five because I know you love your cars" I insist.
"Are you sure you don't want anything else" he questions. I look at him weird as I try to read him.
"Of course. All I need to be happy is you. I don't care what I do as long as I get to do it with you. You don't need to try impress me with nice meals to try and show you care or a grand gesture to show that you love me. I already think you're the greatest thing that's ever happened to me and nothing that happens to us will change that" I promise him.
"I just want to make you happy" he says softly.
I grab his face and pull him closer to me. "You make me so happy" I whisper.
He quickly presses his lips to mine as I kiss him back. His grip on me gets tighter as he holds on to me for dear life. "Can you promise me something" I ask.
"Anything" he assures me.
"Promise me that you will stop questioning what you mean to me. We're here together because we stopped trying to deny ourselves of this love we shared but never really shared. We're here holding on to each other and I'm never letting you go. And it's like that because I love you so much and you mean the world to me.
Corey... I need you to know that I love you every moment I'm alive. The good and the bad times. The hard and the easy. And I know you're afraid to mess up and lose me, but you could never lose me. I always knew deep down that you and I would end up like this, and I'm not going to stop fighting for us now that we're here. I just need you to start fighting yourself every time you question what you mean to me" I beg.
I hate that he thinks he's not good enough to be in a real relationship with me. I hate that he thinks that he's not enough in general. Because I know for a fact that he is the greatest thing I've ever known and I just want to be in his arms.
"I promise" he sighs and I smile.
"Good. Because we're just starting our forever together and I don't want these things poisoning your mind and telling you things that aren't true. It's going to be hard enough without all the self inflicted wounds. You should trust yourself to love me the way I was meant to be loved" I insist.
"I know, I know. I just know that you're a great girl and you have the most beautiful smile. I want to make sure I do everything to make sure I can see it" he insists.
"You put it there" I promise.
