S01E18: Under Control

Roslyn's POV

Elena and I are waiting for Jeremy, we're all going to school. I feel as good as new thanks to Damon's blood. But I still pretend to have a headache, so as no to arose suspicion. Elena opens to door to reveal her Uncle John. "Elena" he says with a smile.

"Uncle John, hi" she says surprised.

"Yeah, hi" I say from beside mum.

"Jenna, Roslyn" he says in greeting.

"John, you made it" mum says.

"I said I'd be here before noon" he tells her as he enters the house.

"Oh what you say and what you do are typically two very different things" mum tells him. Jeremy appears greets John and leaves. I then drag Elena out as we're running late to school. Once there we went separate ways as she went to check on Matt. I head to history, she soon arrives. Alaric then holds us both back after class.

"I made a copy of a paper Jeremy wrote for me. I think you should take a look at it" Alaric says handing Elena Jeremy's paper.

"Jeremy wrote this?" she says surprised.

"Don't worry Elena, he told us he didn't think it was real" I assure her.

"You knew?" she asks. "Of course you did, you helped him write the paper" she mumbles.

"It was his idea to do on vampires, I just helped him research" I say shrugging. "Anyway I'm going home, see you at the party" I tell her and leave. I get home and go to the kitchen where mum, Jeremy and John are talking about the founder's kick-off party.

"I've no interest in the Founders' Day Kick-off Party" Jeremy tells John.

"Sure you do its tradition" John reminds him.

"It will be our role to break the tradition" mum states.

"The Gilberts have been a part of this town for a hundred and fifty years. We're one of the founding families and with that distinction comes certain obligations including going to the party. One day, when you can appreciate the significance, I'll tell you all about your heritage" John explains to Jeremy.

"Hmm, the Gilbert family legacy. I forgot how sacred it was. I'm not a Gilbert so I was never cool enough to hear it" Jenna states.

"Why does she hate you so much?" Jer asks John.

"We used to sleep together" John answers and mum throws her bag at him.

"I'm right her" she reminds them.

"He's not my dad right?" I ask her worried.

"Thank god no" she tells me. "But why the sudden interest in your dad?" she asks me curious.

"I don't know, you never talk about him" I tell her. "I know he's not apart of our lives, but I don't know why or who he is" I state.

"I'll tell you about him some other time" she promises me. She then leaves to get ready for the party. While John leaves to deal with his business. Elena enters the kitchen and takes Jeremy & I out for a walk. She tells him she's adopted.

"I just can't believe mom and dad never told you that you were adopted" Jeremy says stunned.

"I'm sure they would of eventually" Elena assures him.

"Yeah, like my mum will eventually tell me about my dad" I say smiling.

"Why were you so worried about what I'd think?" he asks Elena.

"Because...I don't know. It's weird. Going you're whole life thinking you're related by blood to someone" she explains.

"Does it bother you that we're not?" he asks her.

"No, Jer...you're my brother and Roslyn is our cousin, that's all that matters" Elena says smiling. Jeremy and I smile back at her. "So, Mr. Saltzman said you've been doing great in history now" she says changing the subject.

"Yeah, yeah he's really been helping me out. He gave me some extra credit and stuff. Roslyn helped me a lot with research" Jeremy states.

"He loved you vampire paper" she tells him.

"He thought I had a clever angle" he says shrugging.

"You did" I agree.

"What drew you to that subject matter?" Elena asks him.

"I don't know, boredom or maybe I'm just as nuts as the long line of Gilbert crazies" Jeremy tells her.

"Gilberts aren't crazy" she tells him.

"Easy for you to say, you aren't one" he says playfully. Elena shoves him and they start to chase each other. I smile watching them and we go home to get ready for the party. I go with mum as Elena went alone to find Stefan. She and I were having a good time when I spot Alaric approaching us.

"History teacher three o'clock" I tell her smiling.

"How do I look?" she asks me.

"Beautiful" I answer and Alaric arrives.

"I was looking for you" he says smiling at Jenna.

"Here I am. I haven't seen you in a while" she tells him and he smiles sheepishly.

"Things have been a little crazy but I'm here now. Do you want to get a drink?" he asks her. She agrees and I leave them to it. I spot Jeremy going over to the Sheriff and approach.

"Excuse me Sheriff. I was curious if there's been any more information about what happened to Vicki Donovan?" Jeremy tells Liz.

"It was an overdose Jeremy" I remind him as I join them. Liz nods her head in agreement.

"Yeah, but her body was buried. Somebody must have done that" he tells us.

"We're aware of that. The investigation is ongoing but there's nothing more I can tell you at this time. I'm sorry" Liz tells him.

"It's ok" he says disheartened.

"Jeremy, come dance with me" I tell him and drag him onto the dance floor. "Jer I know how much you cared about Vicki. The coroner's office said it was an overdose, if that's what they said happened..." I start to explain.

"Is that what you believe?" he asks me. "I think somebody killed her and buried her body and I don't think we should write it off just 'cause it's easy" he tells me.

"Jer, we're all just trying to move on" I tell him as Elena joins us.

"I heard about your talk with the sheriff" she states looking at him. "Rosie, can I speak to my brother?" she asks me.

"Sure thing Elena" I say smiling. "Good luck" I whisper and leave her to it. Hopefully she can talk some sense into him.

About ten fifteen minutes later there's a commotion outside on the porch. I go to the door to see Alaric pull Tyler off of Matt. I frown, I thought they were best friends. I walk over to Tyler. "Hey, you ok?" I ask him concerned.

"I'm fine Rosie" he assures me. Just then his dad appears and checks on him. Then thanks Alaric and tells the crowd to return to the party.

"Tyler lets get you a cool cloth" I tell him. As Elena tends to Matt.

"I said I'm fine" he reminds me.

"I know we haven't hang out much this year, but you're my best friend. I'm here if you need me" I assure him. He smiles hugging me and leaves. Tyler and I have been friends since we were babies. Whenever his uncle babysat him, he organized a play date for us. As he is a high school friend of my mum.

"There you are Roslyn, are you ready to go home?" mum asks me. I nod my head and we go home. "Not so excited that we have another month of these Founders' Day events" she says as we arrive home.

"Yeah, tell me about it" I say smiling. I go check on Jeremy and find him in his room. "Are you ok?" I ask him.

"Fine" he tells me.

"I'm glad, good night cuz" I tell him and go to my room. I take off my red party dress and my heels. I remove my make-up and put on an oversized shirt. I brush my teeth and go to bed.
