"He promised me the world. I'm still waiting." —
Bridgett Devoue"Eddie, you are absolutely precious," Bev squealed.
I blushed brighter than the hot pink shorts Bev had given me that she had grown out of. "N-no I'm not!" I exclaimed.
She just smiled, hopping up from my desk chair and ushering me into it.
"Sit. It's time for makeup!" She squealed.
This was our Saturday routine. My mother was gone all day, leaving me alone. Bev knew how much I loved cross dressing, so she decided to come over and help me try on different styles of dresses and learn makeup.
She pulled out her worn out makeup bag, pulling mascara, blush, concealer, bronzer, eyeshadow, brushes and much more.
"Sit still," she ordered me, and I nodded in compliance.
"Yes ma'am."(Time skip)
"Ok, open your eyes!" Bev squealed.
I blinked hard, getting my eyes back into focus. Then my jaw dropped.
"Holy shit Bev," I breathed.
I couldn't take my eyes off the person in the mirror.
Sparkly grey eye shadow and thick black eyeliner made my deep brown eyes pop, red lipstick made my skin glow, and the light blush across my face just brought the look together.
I stepped in front of my wall length mirror; Bev stood right behind me.
"Eds you're so pretty. You have a nice face," she told me.
I snorted at her randomness. "Thanks Bev."
"Now for the real fun."
She sauntered over to my quilted bed, grabbing the garment bag laying on it. She grinned at me.
"You're going to love this!"
She dragged me into the bathroom, and hung the bag on the shower.
"Clothes," she said, pointing at my T-shirt and shorts.
I was used to changing in front of her. She was my best friend, and neither one of us cared, so I pulled off my shirt and shorts, leaving me in my underwear.
"Ready?" She asked me.
I nodded, biting my lip. "I-I think so," I whispered excitedly.
She unzipped the bag, and I gasped. "Bev, where did you get this?"
"It's my mothers. She said you could have it if it fits," Bev explained.
I grabbed the silky red fabric in my hands. "I wanna try it!"
Bev carefully removed it from the hanger, and unzipped the back of the dress. I pulled it over my head. Bev zipped the back up for me.
We both looked in my mirror in complete amazement.
The red dress was skin tight, hanging off my shoulders and stopping just above mid-thigh.
"Wanna try something new?" Bev breathed in my ear.
"Like what?"
"A wig?" She half squeaked.
"Yes! Yes yes yes!"
She dragged me back into my room, reaching into yet another bag, before pulling out a wig cap and a long, chestnut brown wig.We stood in my mirror again, completely awestruck.
"Holy shit," I breathed, not believing my eyes.
Bev smiled gently at me, reaching into her purse and pulling out a Polaroid. "Smile Eds!"
I grinned up at her, but it suddenly faltered as I heard my front door open.
"Eddie-bear, I'm home!"
My heart dropped and shattered. She couldn't see me like this. She would literally kill me.
"Go!" I hissed to Bev, knowing she would also get in trouble if we were caught.
She looked at me with wide eyes; I heard my mother walking up the stairs.
"Now!"
She bolted out of my open window, running for the woods behind my house. I knew she'd wait there for me.
My mom was right outside of my bedroom, I could hear her shallow breathing.
I bolted to my door, quickly locking it.
"Eddie bear?" My mother asked, he cold tone chilling me to my bone.
"Yes mommy?" I whimpered.
"Why did you lock your door? Who's in there with you?"
"Nobody mommy, nobody," I answered quickly.
"Open your door," she demanded.
"No."
"What?"
"I can't mommy," I tried to explain.
"Eddie bear," she snarled from her side of the door.
I shrank back from my door, and watched with wide eyes as my mother opened it with her key.
Shit I'm so dead.
"What are you doing in girls clothes?" She shrieked, blood rising to her face.
"I-I like these clothes mommy," I tried to explain.
"No! No son of mine will be in girls clothes ever!"
I felt myself getting angry. I was fifteen, I knew who I really was. "Why?" I asked, blood rushing to my face as well.
"Because it's gay Eddie-bear!"
"So what if I'm gay mom?" I screamed. "So what if I want to be a girl?!"
The little light left in her eyes drained away, and I began to shrink back.
"Get our of my house, now," she snarled.
My heart sank, and tears flooded my eyes.
I had to listen to her. "Ok mommy. I love you."
She walked out, slamming my door behind her. I broke down in sobs, and quickly grabbed a backpack.
I stuffed it full of random clothes, mostly shorts and T-shirts, before climbing out of my window and walking into the woods where Bev was waiting for me.
