"You have moments where you think you're over it and then you have others where you cry on the bathroom floor wondering why you weren't good enough." —
Unknown

I walked down the steps into the basement, shivering as the stone floor sent a shiver up my spine. I stepped over to the washing machine, and turned the water on. I placed his shirt in then his shorts. I paused and gasped.
Blood covered the back of Eddie's shorts.
But why would blood be there? I asked myself. Rape.
I shook the thought from my head, there was no way somebody could do that to Eddie, he was just a kid.
     But then why's there blood?
I ran back up the stairs and into the bathroom. "Eds?!" I cried, flinging the door open.
He flinched, curling up into a ball, and quickly wiped his face. "Y-Yeah?"
I noticed the pinkish tint of the bath water.
"Eds, I need your h-honest answer, ok? What h-happened tonight?"
He looked away from me. "Nothing Bill. I-I told you that."
"Eddie, stop lying. I saw blood on your shorts."
He froze. "S-So?" He asked, his voice quavering.
"Eds, please. Tell me what h-happened?" I sank down on the floor, leaning my back against the tub and resting my chin on my knees.
After a moment of Eddie's sniffling turned into sobs.
"Eddie!" I cried in shock, scooting around to face him.
"He r-raped me Bill, I tried to tell him no, b-but he wouldn't l-listen!" He wailed.
     I was shocked. "W-What? Who?!"
His small body shook with sobs. "H-Henry Bowers."
Rage filtered through me. What the hell did he want with a kid like Eddie. Eddie would never hurt a fly, and Bowers was over here fucking-
I snapped out of my thoughts, I had to calm Eddie down.
I stood up, grabbing a towel. "H-here," I said quietly.
Eddie stood up and wrapped the fluffy grey towel around him, still shaking like mad.
I wrapped my arm around his bare shoulders, pretending not to notice how hard he flinched at my touch.
We walked into my room; he stood silently as I pulled out a tank top and fuzzy pants for him to sleep in.
"H-here. Get changed and I'll come back in ok?"
He just nodded, giving up on trying to stop the tears from flowing down his face.
I stepped out into the hallway, keeping my door cracked, just in case something happened.
After five minutes passed, I called out. "Eds? You ok?"
There was no answer, and I rushed into my room. I sighed in semi-relief as I saw Eddie, unharmed, laying in my bed. But he was in tears.
"Eds," I started, but he cut in.
     "Bill I'm so s-sorry. I d-didn't plan on c-coming here tonight. I know you've gone through s-so much, and I'm over h-here crying over n-nothing and-"
I silenced him with a hug, pressing his face into my chest.
"Eds, just because I h-have problems, doesn't mean yours are irrelevant, ok?"
He sobbed into my shirt, but nodded. "S-sorry," he sniffled.
I hushed him again, rocking him gently back and forth. "It's ok, kid."
I listened to his breathing even out, before placing Eddie's head on a pillow and turning off the main light, but left the lamp on. I knew Eddie hated the darkness.

I woke up early, the sun barely beginning to rise. Eddie was curled up beside me, still fast asleep.
I slid out from under Eddie's arm, and quietly made my way down to the kitchen. I began to scramble eggs, fry bacon, and bread in the toaster.
Soon, I was headed back upstairs with two trays full of food.
Eddie was wrapped up in my blankets, sleeping peacefully. I gently shook his shoulders.
     "Eds," I whispered. "You h-hungry?"
     "Hmm? Mhm," he mumbled.
His eyes, puffy and red, fluttered open. He sat up, and I handed him his food.
     "Thank you Bill," he whispered.
"It's no problem, Eds. You know I'd do anything for you."
We sat together on my bed, shoulder to shoulder. He snuggled into me, and I leaned into him.
I felt his eyes on me, and he leaned closer. I turned to look at him, and to my great surprise, he pressed his lips to mine.
He pulled away quickly. "Oh my god, Bill! I'm so sorry, I was-I was just trying to kiss your cheek as a thank you, and I-"
The softness of his lips were irresistible, and I cut him off mid-sentence, placing our lips back together.
"Oh," he breathed as I pulled away, blushing.
"I love you Eds. And I'm always here for you, ok? I promise I won't let anybody ever hurt you again, ok?"
Tears filled his eyes. "Thank you Bill," he whispered, placing his lips softly to mine once more.
