"How do you run from what's inside your head?" —
Alice in Wonderland(?)
I ran my hands through Stanley's hair as we laid back in my bed. He was curled up next to me with his eyes closed peacefully. I smiled happily.
Then it faded. I couldn't bear to think of Stanley having to come out to his father. He was such a strict man.
But now I knew I at least had a chance with him. And I couldn't help but be a little bit more than excited about that.
I listened as Stan's breath slowed and evened out; he snuggled closer to me in his sleep. I wrapped both my arms around him, holding him close to me.
I sighed, untangling myself from Stanley to get up and turned off my light.
He rolled over as I tried to walk quietly over to my light switch. "Bill?" He whimpered.
I flicked the lights off. "I'm right here S-Stan," I whispered, sliding back into bed beside him.
He snuggled back into my arms again, curling his fingers in my shirt. "Please don't leave me," he shakily breathed.
"I'll s-stay right here. I promise," I whispered back, before holding him even tighter and closing my eyes.
"Hey Bill?"
I squinted my eyes in the sunlight streaming through my window. "Yes S-Stan?" I asked him.
"Thank you," he said, burying his face in my chest.
I was more awake now. "For what?"
I asked.
"Still loving me."
My heart broke; he knew his parents didn't love him anymore. "I'll never s-stop. Ever," I promised.
I felt him smile. "I love you," he whispered.
"I love you too," I responded.
"Can I tell you something?" He asked me.
"S-sure," I said, getting kind of nervous.
"I really like you, and if you don't feel the same it's ok, but I just wanted you to know-"
I silenced him with a kiss, curling my fingers in his hair. "I-I like you t-too," I stuttered, blushing profusely.
We leaned in for another kiss, and of course Georgie just had to walk in at that time.
"Eww, What are you guys doing?!" He shrieked. "I'm telling mom!"
"S-shit, Wait Georgie!" I hissed, but it was too late. He was gone.
My heart was pounding, and I looked over to Stan, who looked as fearful as I felt.
"Come on, we're running away!" I whisper yelled, hopping yo from my bed and pulling on everyday clothes.
I threw a pair of sweats and a T-shirt to Stanley, who rushed to put them on as I packed a bag full of clothes.
I zipped it up as I heard my parents footsteps on the stairs.
"The window!"
Stan and I slipped out the window, hitting the dirt ground hard. "Come on!" I hissed, and began running.
Stanley and I made it to the quarry, before flopping to the ground and gasping for breath.
"What the hell are we gonna do now?" Stan panted.
I shrugged my shoulders even though he couldn't see me. I scooter over to him, allowing him to lay his head on my chest. My eyes fluttered closed.
I woke up to a very bright light being shown in my eyes.
"Are you William Denbrough?" A voice I didn't know asked.
"Yeah?" I answered. "Who's asking?"
"Officer Peterson. You're parents have been worried sick all day," he explained. "I'll take you and your friend here home."
I looked over at Stanley for the first time. His dirty blond hair was matted and sticking up in random places, and his eyes were wide and shiny, but he seemed to calm down when I looked st him.
"Come on Stan," I whispered, following the officer to his car.
After an antagonizing thirty minute drive, we were back at my house.
"Thank you Officer," I mumbled quietly as Stanley and I slid out of his car.
We walked up to the porch with our heads down, completely shocked as my parents rushed out to wrap us in hugs.
"Oh thank god you boys are ok, we were so worried!" My father exclaimed.
"And we don't care who you boys love, as long as you're safe and happy," my mom said.
Stanley and I began to sob, holding each other and my parents.
"Thank you guys," Stanley sobbed.
My mom held him and patted his head gently. "You can stay as long as you need baby. And thank you for making Bill happy."
