"Well, Mikey old boy," I said. "I'm afraid we're in way over our heads."
I could feel him roll his eyes even in the darkness. "Now you tell me."
He sounded scared; I didn't know how to fix this. I thought it would be ok to hitchhike with that man, but now we were tied up in his dark, damp basement.
"Don't be afraid, I'm right here," I tried reassuring him.
"I know," he said, but the crack in his voice gave away his true panic. "I know."
"Just breathe..." I mumbled, listening to the man's footsteps rattle the ceiling and send tiny flakes of dust to the ground.
"How long do you think we've been down here?" Mike whimpered.
At least a day. "I'm sure just a few hours," I tried to reassure him.
I could tell he didn't believe me, but but back his response as we heard the basement door being unlocked. I froze, my mouth went dry.
"H-hello?" Mike called out weakly.
The man stood at the top of the stairs to where we could only see his feet. We all sat in silence for a moment, then the man continued to walk down the stairs.
I felt my heart stop when I saw his face. It was painted up like a clown. His outfit didn't help. It was a dirty white, with red pompoms for buttons.
I cried out in surprise as the man walked over to me, swinging his arms.
     "Hello Richie-"
I hadn't told him my name.
"I'm Pennywise, the dancing clown." He shook his whole body as I talked.
I shrank away; my worst fear was clowns. I could feel my chest tightening, and suddenly knew how Eddie felt when he had an asthma attack.
The clown man grabbed my face with his hands, squishing my face. I squeaked in fear, trying to pull away from him.
"Now Richie, why don't we tell your dear friend Mikey here about your, err, dirty little secret?"
There was no way in hell this fucking clown knows I'm gay and in love with my best friend right? I asked myself.  "W-What?" I whimpered.
     "You know..."
I shook my head, trying to look confused, but the tears in my eyes and the blush on my cheeks told a different story. "I-I don't!" I sobbed.
The clown wrapped his too-long fingers around my wrists and drug me to my feet.
By now, I was shaking with sobs, letting the clown drag me up the stairs and into his first floor.
The wallpaper was peeling, the floor squeaked, and it smelled like mothballs, death even.
The man opened a creaky oak door, revealing a bedroom inside. There was a large king sized bed, a dresser, and  pictures of the clown, grinning evilly, with multiple children.
     "Get undressed."
     "What?" I cried.
"Now! Before I have to fucking do it for you!" He snarled.
I started with my shirt, unbuttoning it slowly, then undid my belt. I felt the clown's eyes on my body, analyzing ever part of me.
Shaking, I slid down my pants, leaving me in only my boxers.
"Take them off," the clown demanded.
I shook my head, unable to form words.
"Three...two...one."
The clown tackled me to the bed; I didn't even have time to scream. He flipped me over onto my stomach, and handcuffed my wrists to the bedposts.
"Please no..." I muttered repeatedly under my breath, trying to stop the tears that were pouring down my face.
I heard the man rustling around behind me, before a damp rag was placed over my mouth. It smelled almost fruity, but the chemical smell trumped it. I struggled for a moment, trying to get it away from my nose and mouth, but it all went black too quickly.

I woke up on the cold basement ground with a start, gasping for breath and looking around.
"Oh Richie," Mike sobbed. "You're ok!"
"Mikey?" I asked, my voice cracking. "What-What happened?"
He walked over to where I laid on the floor, cupping my face in his hand. I glanced down at him and gasped.
     "Y-you're covered in b-blood!" I stuttered.
"Shh, it's not mine. It's ok. Let's just go."
I nodded my head, letting him pull me up to my feet. He wrapped his arms around me, holding me.
"I love you," I whispered, and began to sob.
He held me tighter. "I love you too. And it's ok that you're gay."
     "How do you know-?"
He shushed me. "Let's just get out of here and home, ok?"
I nodded, hugging him once more, before he led us out of the basement and into the sunlight.
