"I am not looking to escape my darkness, I am learning to love myself there." —
Rune Lazuli
I woke up with a start, gasping for breath. I bolted up, but then grabbed my head, groaning in pain.
"Eddie? Are you ok?" I heard a voice say from beside me.
"I-I umm-uhh," I couldn't say anything.
"Shh, Shh, it's ok. I'm right here, you're safe now," the voice reassured me. I felt arms wrap around my shoulders, and pull me in to a tight hug. I breathed deep, inhaling the best scent in the world, cologne and peppermint.
"St-Stanley?" I choked out a sob. "Where am I?"
He began rubbing circles on my back, and I found my breathing to slow down gradually. "We're in my room. Bowers and his gang beat you up pretty bad. But I fix you up," Stanley explained.
I nodded, tears still making their way down my face. "Thank y-you Stanley."
"Of course baby," he whispered, and began running his fingers through my hair. He leaned back, letting me lay my head on his chest. I could here his heartbeat, and soon the steady, drumming rhythm lulled me back to my slumber.
I awoke again to bright sunlight streaming down on my face; flashbacks of the night before came crashing through my head at full throttle.
"Stanley?" I whimpered, squeezing my eyes closed.
"Hmm?" He replied sleepily from beside me.
I was at his side in an instant, burrowing under his arm, which he wrapped around me with hesitation.
"You ok baby?" He mumbled.
"Mhm."
I closed my eyes again, but I didn't fall back asleep. Stanley didn't realize. In the half hour I pretended to be asleep, he sang me songs, played with my hair, and cupped my face with his hand.
"Stanley!"
We both jumped, and my eyes shot open.
"Y-Yeah ma?" He called out, staring at me with wide eyes.
"Do ya want any breakfast?" She yelled up to his room.
"No ma," he called back.
When I was sure Stanley's mother was done screeching I closed my eyes again.
"More please?" I asked Stanley, loving the attention.
He chuckled, but continued. "Anything for you baby," he whispered.
I melted into his touch, smiling at contact. After a while, Stanley broke the silence.
"H-hey Eddie?" He asked with a shaky voice.
"Hm, hey Stan?" I asked, my eyes fluttering open.
"I- uhh- can I kiss you?" He breathed.
I grinned like an idiot. "Duh. Of course you can."
A small smile of relief broke across Stanley's face. Then, he dipped his head down and pressed his lips to mine.
I savored the moment; his soft pink lips on my own. I kissed back harder, deepening our kiss.
"Mm, Eddie," Stanley moaned into my mouth.
This was euphoria. I squeezed my eyes shut, savoring every second before he finally pulled away.
"Uh, would you like to be my boyfriend?" Stanley asked after mere seconds of kissing me.
I grinned. "Yes please."
And with that, I closed my eyes again, letting Stan continue to sing and play with my hair.
"I love you kid," Stanley whispered.
"I loved you too, Stanley," I whispered back, cuddling closer to him under the blankets. "A lot."
