"Once you care you're fucked." —
Unknown"Uh, h-hi Bev," I said with a small smile.
The red head stopped, giving me a big smile that lit up her whole face. "Hiya Bill!"
"I was, uh, gonna h-have a party this Friday, if you wanted to come?" I asked her, feeling a light blush on my cheeks.
She thought about it for a moment. "Sounds like a plan to me. When and where?"
"My h-house. Nine pm," I told her.
She smiled and nodded. "Who else is coming?"
"Trashmouth, Eddie, Stanley, Ben, and a boy named Mike," I told her.
"Alright, sounds good. Who's bringing the beer?"
My mouth dropped open, and Bev started laughing. Hard.
"Dude," she snorted. "I'm just kidding." Her bell-like laughter echoed through the cafeteria.
I joined in laughing with her. It was a nice feeling. "You're funny Beverly," I complimented her.
A light blush rose on her cheeks. "Aw, thanks Bill."
"Well, I'll see you this weekend," I said, a bit put off by the fact it was only Wednesday. "Here's my address." I quickly scribbled it down on a piece of paper.
"Thanks Bill," she said, giving me a quick wink and walking away.
I blushed crimson, and turned back to my uneaten and unappetizing lunch.Friday Night
I patiently stood and waited at my door for my friends to arrive. I was overjoyed to see Beverly arrive twenty minutes before nine. I smiled and waved at her from behind the glass.
She smiled and waved back, dropping her bike in my front yard. She ran in the stairs and into my house.
She slid on the rug that sat on the floor, and slid right into me.
I caught her before she could hit the ground. This is when Mike decided to show up.
He stared at the two of us for a moment, before kind of nodded, and walked into my kitchen to probably eat all my chips.
Bev and I straightened ourselves out before the rest arrived.Hours later, once everybody had arrived, we ordered pizzas and were now downstairs watching horror movies.
I sat with Beverly tucked under one arm, Richie and Eddie sat really close together, and Stanley and Mike sat with their fingers intertwined. Ben had to leave early, so he was no longer there.
Bev snuggled closer to me, sensing the oncoming horror, and jumped as Michael jumped out from the woods and chased the unlucky teenagers.
"Are you scared?" I asked her quietly, so only she could hear.
"A little, but it's ok," she breathed back.
I nodded, and returned back to the movie. I wrapped my arm tighter around her.
