- Narrator's POV -

A young girl climbs up a mountainside. Her breathing is labored, her face red. She gets to the top and yells her name loudly. The wind seems to hear her and blows gently on her face.

- Lam's POV -

"I'll have to go to Montfort." I tell Caldon and William. We are in Caldon's 'house'. William and I helped him make it a bit livelier by filling the photo frames with images of the river, stills of objects, and portraits of the three of us. But the hard work might all be for nothing soon. "If you just don't tell anyone, you'll be fine. We can all pretend it never happened and everything will be fine." Caldon says, pleading. "You don't have to stay here." William interjects. Caldon sighs. "If you go, L, I will go too." "Thanks, Caldon" I say, trying to make a 'thankful' face. It seems it works because he smiles. "Hey, don't leave me here!" William cries jokingly. "You can come too." Caldon and I say in harmony.

"I'm worried that the news will hurt her. My mom is old and she is already shocked that I am a newblood. Saying this might break her." I say, worriedly chewing my lip. "We've all got to take risks." Caldon says. I know the risk he is talking about. If he had never admitted to liking me, we never would have been so happy. I decide to take the risk and say: "Okay. Let's do this."
