- William's POV -
Avria leads us through the streets of Ascendant, darting so quickly between houses she looks like a Swift. We come to an old, beat-up looking shack. "Be careful. She is not the kindest with her welcomes." What could that mean? Avria knocks on the door. It sounds like a special secret knock. Her fingers drum out the rhythm tap-tap tip-tip -tap and the door opens. Beyond the opening there is only blackness. "Go on in." Avria tells us.
I step inside the mysterious shack and a hand darts to my throat. The hand pushes me against the wall. "I c-can't brea..." I manage to say, my words trailing off as the hand constricts tighter. Maybe this is the welcome... my thought is only hapless-formed because the lack of air is making it hard for my brain to process anything. The darkness is shifting and pulling in and out. Am I hallucinating? When will anyone save me? I am going to die and we haven't saved L yet.
- Caldon's POV -
William is being held up against the wall by a hand, who I don't know the owner of. "Avria, Do something!" I snarl at her, surprised by the ferocity in my voice. "Raylin! It's me!" She yells into the blackness. The limb let's go of William's neck and let's him drop to the ground. I rush to his side. He blinks blearily and says: "Caldon why are you here? Did you die too? Maybe we can find L." "No, William. You're alive. We're all alive."
