- Lam's POV -

I get butterflies in my stomach as my parents walk onto the makeshift stage. Mom reps the microphone and clears her throat. My nausea grows. How will Caldon react? "We have an announcement to make." My mom says as my dad stands behind her. A hush descends over the audience. "Do you know about this?" Caldon whispers to me. I bite my lip and gesture for him to listen. "Many of you know that Cal and I are 'together'. But I doubt any of you know that he had a child, and have another one on the way." The assembled nobility took in a collective gasp. "Who is it?" Someone yelled from the back. "L, would you please come up?" I walk slowly to the stage. When I glance back, Caldon is staring at me, confused. I gulp and take my place next to my mom. "16 years ago, we had a daughter. We named her Lam and gave her to a Red mother in The Stilts. Many of you may question our parentage but it was for her own good." "We didn't want her to be targeted." Dad clarifies. "I love your dress." Mom whispers to me as we walk off the stage. "It's beautiful."

"So you're Lam Barrow now?" Caldon asks me. "Actually Calore." I say. "That's what they chose." "You're okay with this?" I know Caldon means my parentage, But I take the easy route and reply: "Yeah. I think Calore has a nice ring to it." "So have you found a house?" Caldon asks me, shifting the subject like an expert. "No, why?" "I am looking at a small one bedroom studio. It seems perfect. Especially since across the street there is a nice two bedroom house." I get his drift. "So you want to stay in the studio, and my parents and I stay across the street?" "Precisely." He answers.
