- Lam's POV -

Caldon laughs, and I laugh with him. We are spinning around in a meadow filled with bright flowers. Caldon dissolves and I think he is just using his shadow ability to become invisible, but then in his place is Maven. I start to run away, frightened as the meadow turns into nothingness. I am falling and the King's face is growing behind me, taking up all the extra space. I jolt awake, sweating and screaming. I stop yelling immediately, not wanting to wake anyone up. Too late. Caldon walks in, wearing nothing but his underwear and hastily putting pants on. I look away, wanting to give him some privacy. He sits on the edge of my bed and asks: "Is everything alright? I heard you screaming." "Yeah, just a bad dream." I reply, but he can see how hard I am shaking. He drops it. He knows me so well. "Do you want me to wait until you are asleep?" He asks. "No, I don't want to trouble you." I say. He is too kind. "Well you aren't stopping me from sleeping on the floor." He says, getting up. "Sleeping on the floor?" I question myself, confused. He returns with a pillow and a blanket and lays them on the carpeted floor next to my bed. Caldon then crawls under the blanket and rests his head on the pillow. He turns around so he is facing me and says goodnight. I fall asleep to the sound of his breathing.

I wake up in the middle of the night, needing to go to the bathroom. I do my business and when I get back I look at Caldon. He looks so peaceful sleeping there. His eyes are closed, hiding the earth-colored orbs. His face is relaxed. I make a split-second decision and climb in next to him with a pillow from my bed.

- Caldon's POV -

I wake up and there is an unfamiliar warmth on my back. I open my eyes and look down to see an arm draped around my torso. I don't want to wake up L (I'm assuming it's her) so I close my eyes and wait.

The arm recedes, and I turn around with it. It almost looks like she is pulling me closer. I am met with a beautiful sight: L sleeping. Slowly, her blue-grey eyes open and she smiles. That smile could power a whole town with its brilliance. Our foreheads and noses are touching. I've never been this close to a girl before. "You know, you're the only one who's ever owned my heart before." I say, putting my thoughts into words. "Same here." She replies.
