I felt like I was suffocating, there was just a lot going on right now and I.... I felt trapped. Elijah's house was too small, this morning I stepped on one of DJ's sharp ass toys, fuckin up my foot in the process, there were boxes of stuff we needed for Baby Elias's arrival and though we still has a few months, Elijah wanted to get started early to make sure we had everything we needed. Then there was the surrogate, who was asking for more money for her personal needs, saying that if she's going to be pregnant, she needs to look good doing it, DeVaughn was running a fever, so Elijah was with him at the ER. Diante was still gone... I don't know where Big Dawg sent him, but whatever he needed to do to get his head on straight.... Then there was the shyt with the house... insurance said it would take almost six months to fix at minimum and I wasn't even entirely sure if I wanted it fixed... too much shyt had happened there and I feel like it was a sign that it was time for me and Elijah to move on. Speaking of Elijah, he needed to make a decision this week regarding his job offer. When we last talked he was still undecided but I felt like if you haven't made up your mind this close to the deadline, then you were looking for a reason not to take the job. I limped through the house and felt like the walls were closing in... you know what, fuck it, we needed a bigger place and IF Elijah decides to take the job, well... at least we'll have a place to stay when we come visit.
"Ayy, sorry to bother you.... I know you're probably busy but I need a place, something big and I know you got properties all over the state...." I said sitting down, then jumping right back up because I had sat on one of DJ's toys.
"Just tell me what you're looking for and I'll see what I can find." Legend said and I described to him my dream house, I wanted all my kids to have their own space, me and Elijah needed our own space, basically I needed at least six bedrooms. "I'll see what I got... give me an hour, two at most." Legend said hanging up. Great now that I have that settled, it was just a matter of talking to Elijah and it seemed like right on queue, he walk into the house carrying De'Vaughn in his carseat.
"Just a cold... nothing too serious. They gave him some medicine and from what the doctor said, he should be out for a couple hours, but we should still keep an eye on him." Elijah said, and I waited until he had De'Vaughn down for his nap before pulling him into the kitchen.
"So uhh.... I talk to this guy I know who has a couple of properties, he's looking into finding us a place with more space." I said waiting to see what his reaction was going to be.
"Okay... if you're going to look at properties, you're going to have to do it alone. I don't want you thinking I don't want to be involved, it's just... I have to fly down to Memphis for a couple of days, I'm going to look at the facilities and I plan on making my decision down there." Elijah said.
"And which way are you leaning?" I asked.
"I don't know... this is a big decision and I don't wanna rush into it. I want to weigh all my options before making a life-changing move." Elijah said.
"Don't I get a say in the matter?" I asked. "Not regarding your job but I need to know which way you're leaning so I can start making moves in case we need to move... This decision doesn't just affect you, it affects all of us." I said and Elijah let out a low sigh.
"I know and I haven't made up my mind yet... I just.... I don't know." Elijah said and I didn't want to get annoyed, but I was.... I counted to ten before speaking because I didn't want to argue.
"What's the hold up? Not trying to press you or anything, but what is keeping you here? Is it the job that you're not sure about? Memphis? Is it me?" I asked.
"No... no, it's my dad is getting married... I have a new baby sister on the way.... I just feel like if I... if WE leave, there's so much we're going to miss. Serenity, Roy, Nimaya.... Jaire and Halo.... I just..... I want to be absolutely sure. But I also feel like moving would be good for you... after everything that's happened... I think a change of scenery would be good for you." Elijah said, before we could continue this conversation, there was a knock on the door and Serenity walked in with Roy carrying their daughter.
