"Barbara please." I pleaded

"No."

"Come on. Its only one night."

"No."

"It would just be quick. I promise it won't happen again."

"No."

I groaned and dragged my palm over my face. I loved Barbara and all, but sometimes she was just impossible. But I guess I too was, at the moment.

Recap. Six months ago, some shady-looking people came to our little town to our little orphanage to talk to the Mother Superior.

Three days later, they arrived with huge boxes and turned our panic room(which was actually an empty basement) into some sort of lab.

Me being the person I am, decided to check it out. But my plan involved a second person. And who else could play that role than my trusty ol' roommate and bestie? I'll tell you. No one.

Which was how come you found me on my knees pleading to her with puppy eyes. This would have been easier if it had been anybody else.

"Pleeeeeeeeese~?" I gave her my best pout whiles blinking my eyes.

The girl wasn't even looking at me. Heck, she didn't even batt an eyelash. Dammit!

"I'll go with you-" I blinked in disbelief. I can't believe it worked!

"But not because of that hideous look you were giving me right now." I sulked after that.

"But it works." I whined. She just rolled her eyes at me. "Come on, or I'm going back to bed." I obliged and took the flashlight I had burrowed a few days ago from under the bed.

Barbara just raised an eyebrow and sighed muttering, "I don't even wanna know."

I giggled and carefully unlocked the door, glad that it didn't creak...much. I quickly tip toed down the hall, humming one of those spy rhythms and gestured to Barbara... She was casually walking towards me.

I sighed but said nothing. I had a feeling this was going to be a long night. We walked the rest of the way to the basement doors, being as quiet as possible when we passed the nuns quarters.

I took the small pin in my hair and begun fiddling with the lock when-

"Ugh-um."

-Barb and I froze. Relief caught my features when I saw who stood behind us, but I still held my guard. I knew what kind of person she was after all.

"Lucy." She said in despite.

"Charlotte." I replied with equal venom.

Ever since the last time Santa Clause visited the world this one person had been a thorn in my flesh. All my escape plans had been ruined and unmasked with that annoyingly loud mouth of hers.

Escaping had been my hobby since the first day I landed here. I'd sneak out almost every night to town. And sometimes maybe catch a bus to the city.

Though all my chances had been ruined by her. The one person who couldn't mind her own business.

"You're long pass your bed time, Williams." God I hated that name.

"And you aren't? I wouldn't expect seeing you here of all places." I seethed.

"I got a pass. The bathroom is around the corner." She replied smugly with a smirk. God I felt like pulling that look off her face.

"Ohh this is so good. Mother Superior would love to hear this." I gritted my teeth. If she did, I'll be thrown out. "You won't say anything." Barbara cut in.

The blonde blob shook her head. "Of course I won't-"

Was I going crazy?

"Because I'm coming along."

My eyes nearly bolted out of my sockets. Did I just hear her right? Did this twitch really say what I really thought she said?

"No way!"

She just rolled her eyes. "Have it your way then. Oh Mother Superior ~" I could feel my eyelids start to twitch.

"This is blackmail."

"Of course it is dummy. You don't wanna get caught. I wanna see what's behind that door. We all have something we want. Now be a good doll and open the door."

Oh this bitc-

"Now!"

I turned and continued to pick at the door vigorously. A soft click told me I'd done it and I ripped it open, forgetting about the creaks. No one commented, gladly.

As expected, no one was here. The people always left an hour before bed time. I walked with hasty steps down the stairs to the basement. My jaw dropped to the floor.

"This-This-What is this?!" Charlotte exclaimed in that piercing voice of hers. I winced at the loudness because she was screaming directly in my ear.

What we were staring at was a huge! It was a giant box with a bunch of tubes attached to it. At least five people could fit in it.

"Hey!"

I jumped at the voice. Charlotte shrieked again in my ear. Barb took a couple of steps back with narrowed eyes.

"Oh, did I scare you? Sorry 'bout that. You live here right?"

I stared suspiciously at the boy in front of me. He looked to be around 18, maybe a year older than us.

"How did you know?"

"Well-" He started with a chuckle. He pointed us and then I realized we were in our night gowns. The hideous things.

"Who are you?"

"Buck."

"Huh? What sort of name is that?"

"Buck." He replied Charlotte with a shrug.

"I'm Lu. This is Barbara and that's Charlotte." Buck nodded. "Pleasure to meet you." We stood there awkwardly for a few minutes.

"You know.  All the Barb's I know are tall, fat, auburns." Barbara raised her eyebrow. "How many Barbara's do you know?"

"One. From this movie Stranger Things."

We deadpanned. Barb shook her head and pointed at the thing we were looking at. "What's that?"

"A teleporter."

"Teleportation isn't real. I know holoportation."

"I guess you're right. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Your call."

"I don't understand?" Charlotte said. I couldn't help but snicker.

"It means that the only way to be certain is for you to try it."

"Can we?"

"Will you?"

I couldn't control my burst of laughter at the look on her face. She seemed so confused. Barb chuckled in amusement.

"Stop laughing! Its not funny!"

She kept on yelling and screaming which made me laugh harder. "Shh. Did you here that?" I paused, as did her and we listened quietly. It was unmistakable now. People were at the door.

Another bang caused me to yelp. "Buck you've got to get us out of here!" The guy looked so calm. I wanted to slap the calmness off him.

"I could teleport you to somewhere else. It seems they already know you're here." He stated. I bit my lip. It was either them or the box.

Charlotte didn't have to be told twice before she rushed into it. Barb and I followed quietly. "And what about you Buck?" I asked as he punched in some buttons.

He looked at me and smirked. "I think I'll prefer the other option." Before I could say anything else he pulled down a lever. The last thing I saw was a blinding light.
