It was a beaver.
Not a wolf, not a bird, not a dog. A motherfu-
"What's that ma?" A squeaky voice spoke.
Oh and apparently female.
A smaller beaver swam its way to us, using one of the many water routes. It stared at me quizzically as it chewed on a piece of wood.
"Stop staring Jiroi, its rude." This voice came from the opposite side. Another baby beaver, clearly older stared at Jiroi with an authority only an elder sibling could master.
"You're rude! And I wasn't staring!" The younger one protested, visibly upset at the snappy attitude.
"I'm not! And you were."
"Was not!"
"Was to!"
"Was n-"
"ENOUGH!" The mama beaver snapped, giving them what I presumed was a glare. I blinked, caught in their mini bickering.
The two bowed their heads shamefully and muttered a 'sorry ma' but immediately went back to their fight, conveying it silently with their eyes this time.
Their mother sighed and brought her attention back to me. "Do forgive the kids, These two have been at it the moment they popped out. Twins are a blessing but can sometimes be a pain."
I replied sheepishly, "No worries. I'm a twin too."
Gosh how I've longed to say those words.
Her eyes widened. "Goodness dear, I hope you haven't been keeping your mother up?"
"Only when we were in our cribs."
She flashed a smile at me. "Ah, the quiet ones. Your parents are lucky to have those. I had hoped mine would---what in the world--PUT YOUR BROTHER DOWN THIS INSTANT ROBI!"
The twin beavers had, as silently as they could tried to throw each other off a cliff. Robi, who had her brother upside down flashed us an innocent smile.
"Okay ma." And she let go, quite literally. The panicked scream of the younger twin rung in my ears as I sprung up.
While rushing to the seen, I immediately thanked the geezer for having calm and kind Hinata as my twin.
I held my breath as I peaked down the cliff. It was quite deep and thick mist prevented me from seeing the end.
Suddenly, there was a whoosh as Jiroi was shot up by a huge spray of water coming from his tiny mouth. I stared in awe and amazement until I remembered that they were summoning animals.
Of course they'll know how to use chakra.
Jiroi landed before us, panting. He shot his sister a hateful look before turning to his mother with tears in his tiny brown eyes. She stared at him as if he'd grown an extra head.
"Did you see ma? Robi threw me over and I-"
"-mastered a jutsu." Robi cut him off, annoyance in her eyes.
Jiroi blinked, probably wandering what she meant. He looked down at the mist below, then at the trail of water on the ground.
Immediately, his eyes lit up like a beacon, and he was repeating the same words he'd said before, but with an entirely new meaning behind them.
"Did you see ma? Robi threw me over and I-"
He paused, looked at the cliff and stared at his sister. His eyes watered and he hugged her. "Thank you! Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you-"
