So I know what you guys are thinking. What the hell is with all this lovey-dovey stuff?
Well.
I NEED A BOYFRIEND OKAY
Also, this is #20!!!!!!yayay!!!
Ruby POV
I am currently standing out in the cold freezing my ass off. Why are we doing this again? Oh yeah. Because I decided I would be a nice person and volunteer. What the hell was I thinking??I can't feel my fingers or my toes and my whole body is literally shaking like a leaf in the wind.
Now let's be honest, I don't have very much body insulation because I'm so small but that's not the point.
The point is that I volunteered to hand out flyers for a fundraiser at my church for two hours in the freezing weather.
I only have ten minutes left and then I can leave but I don't know if I will be able to stop shaking anytime soon.
Just as another couple passed me with sympathetic looks, my phone rang, making me realize I didn't have it on silent.
"Hello?" I ask, not bothering to look at the caller ID.
"Hey babygirl" it's my fiancé, Grayson, the love of my life.
"Graaayyyy" I whined.
"What's up? Where are you? I just got home from work and I wanted to see you but you weren't here" I could practically hear the pout on his face.
You see, Grayson is a general care doctor at a family clinic so he likes to make sure I'm always okay. Which is fine but it gets a little annoying when I have to get checkups. But all I could think about right now was his cuddles and care.
"I'm doing that volunteer thing I told you about! Don't you remember?"
"Have you been out in the cold this long?" Concern lacing is voice.
"It's only been two hours Gray, I'm fine, just a little cold" that was a lie but I didn't want him to worry more than he already does.
"Ruby Annalise Harver you could get hypothermia, you need to come home right now. I don't care if you have time left, you need to be checked over and warm" he said, his tone leaving no room for discussion.
I sighed, knowing he was just worried. "Okay I'll be home soon."
"Good. I'll be waiting for you. Love you babygirl"
"Love you too babe" I mumbled.
Hanging up, I started to walk to my car, feeling stiff from the cold. Not only was it cold but it was windy, causing the cold to bite at my face.
I started up my car and put my heat on full blast, feeling the familiar burning in my hands and face as I warmed up.
20 minutes later
"Gray I'm home!"
I heard loud footsteps coming at a very fast pace. Oh no.
"There you are! Are you alright? Are you cold? I need-"
I cut him off, "I'm fine. I just need to warm up. Cuddles?" I asked, a hopeful look on my face.
I knew that wasn't going to happen, he was still in his scrubs from work and he already had a stethoscope around his neck, indicating I wasn't getting out of this.
"After, okay baby? I need to check you over first. Come sit on the couch" he told me before grabbing my hand and practically dragging me to the couch.
"Okay, okay I'm sitting jeez"
"Ruby please don't joke around about this. Hypothermia is a big deal that can get you hurt. I don't want my baby hurt. Can you please let me check you over?" He pouted, unzipping a bag that I didn't know was there before.
"I know, I know, go ahead, do your thing."
He kissed me on the forehead gently, giving me a thanks babe kinda look. Yeah thanks my ass.
"Deep breaths okay?" Nodding, I did as told, watching as he put the cold stethoscope on my chest and concentrated on what he was listening for.
"Breathing is a bit shallow, I'm going to check your pulse okay?" Nodding again, I sat still, knowing he didn't like it when I squirmed. I was still shivering though, which I know he noticed.
He held my wrist with two fingers and again concentrated deeply on what he was doing. "Babe your heart rate is weaker than it should be. Why the hell did you stay out for so long?" He asked, frustration evident in his voice.
"I'm sorry...I just..." I choked on my words, tears welling up in my eyes, hating when he is frustrated with me.
"I know baby, I'm sorry for getting angry. I just want what's best for you and that includes taking proper care of yourself when I'm not there" he spoke sternly.
"I know and I'm sorry I didn't." I mumbled, looking down at the ground.
"I forgive you baby. I always will. But now I need to get your temperature so I know how bad this is. Sound good?"
Nodding, I again let him do what he need to do.
"Temp is 96.2 F, which is lower than it should be. We need to get you warmed up soon. It looks like you have mild hypothermia, which means lots of rest for you okay? You're most likely going to get sick tomorrow because of it so I'm going to get the day off so I can stay home and monitor you" he spoke, worry lined creasing his forehead.
"Babe you don't have to, I'm sure I'll be fine." I told him, reaching out to flatten his prominent worry lines.
He chuckled, "Babygirl do you know what you are like when you're sick? I'm definitely staying home." I blushed, knowing I become the clingiest person in the world when I'm sick.
"Cuddles now?"
"Yes we can cuddle now. But I'm making you some warm soup and you need to change into the warmest clothes you can find. Oh and grab plenty of blankets too!" He ordered.
"Bossy" I mumbled, hoping he wouldn't catch it.
"You better move that ass before I do it myself"
I moved to do what I was told, knowing I was going to get my cuddles I wanted.
The end y'all.
I just thought it was an adorable idea and
