chapter 27 Surprise

Opal's POV
It have been several days after our reunion with Pin- I mean Steven. I am still not used to any of this but I am starting to get a little used to Steven and the crystal gems. After all, Homeworld and the crystal gems had been in war for thousands of years. It's actually hard for every gem to get used to any of this.

Alot have changed after Steven's arrival and after he had revealed his real identity. Now noweone were lower then the other, that we are exactly the same worth. Many laws had disappeared or changed because of its strictness as for those laws that ended gems to shatter disappeared too. White isn't as strict or scary anymore which is a relief. Sure White could be kind but holy stars could she be overwhelming and a scary something.

All these changes had been done for the better of the gems. I myself agreed to all the changed that had done. This were done for the better good after all, Homeworld have become so much more peaceful then before, it's actually very nice that Steven helped us and the gems with our ruling system. I myself know many of these laws and rules where wayyyy to strict and not good for our society.

I sighed softly and stood up from my throne. I were currently in my room working and helping out Steven if he had any problems on my hologram screen. The other diamonds were to busy and stressed about all this knew change. So I were the only one to help, I didn't mind at all. I liked helping people and gems out, also on the plus side I did get to meet Steven and the gems and got to know them more.

I had been requested to meet with Steven here on Homeworld, he told me he wanted me to show him around and tell our history and how things used to work around here. I feel like one of those history teachers that live on Earth. Steven had told me how the humans gather knowledge on Earth and he also taught me knew words or things as exchange for helping him with Homeworld. So Steven showed me one thing or told me about Earth and I did the same but with Homeworld instead. That was our agreement to each other.

Me and my Pearl had headed out of my room/chamber and started to head towards our meeting location. He had told me to meet him in the ballroom for some reason. Why? I did not know, I just went along with it.

My pearl where walking close next to me as I could hear our steps echo thru the empty halls. It were so quiet, to quiet. The halls were never this quiet or empty, ever.

This made worry rise thru my spine sending an uncomfortable shiver thru my body. Pearl had seemed to notice my distress and tugged my clothing for attention. I looked down at her and she had a comforting smile on her face which made my worry slip away. I trust my pearl and if anything where wrong she should have known. She usually does at least.

I smiled warmly back at her reassuring that I were fine now. She still held on to my clothes even though I told her I were fine. I guess she could still feel my uneasiness about the quiet situation.

We had stopped in our tracks when we were outside the ballroom doors, seeing the doors made me remember my memories the last time I were here and what happened after the display of the dancing gems.

My blush rose just thinking about mine and Yellow heated session. That was after all my first time me and Yellow expressed our feeling towards one and another. It were truly a wonderful memory to have and it couldn't get any better then that.

Pearl knugde my leg cuase of our hight difference as she tried to snap my attention back on Homeworld. I guess I had been zoning out for a while. Pearl chukled as she had seen my flustered expression on my face which made my face blush more.

I playfully scolded pearl and cooled down my face so my blush would disappeared cuase I didn't want Steven to see my blushing mess. He is still to young to know about sexual touch because he would surely ask why I were blushing and I would have to explain and ruin that innocent mind of his. I were not ready for that and neither were he.

When my expression where under control I slowly opened the big doors infront of me an pearl. After all, those doors where so heavy, The doors where made of pure iron which made the doors so god damn heavyyyyy. I could say Iron where not the best material to make huge ass doors with. Like holy stars, why? We really need to get that changed.

When the doors were fully opened the ballroom where completely dark not letting in any light except from the doors that I had recently opened which was wierd because of the huge window at the sealing. I looked up seeing the window had been covered by a black cloth material.

When I looked beside when where pearl stood, she weren't there.

Odd...

I walked some steps inside the dark ballroom and heared a huge boom behind me, I looked to where the sounds came from and the only source of light where gone as the doors behind me were now completely shut. I looked around me with pure horror but couldn't see anything else then darkness.

When I at least excepted it the material from the window where snatched away, letting light touch the room. Turning the once dark room to a room filled with light. My eyes were slowly adjusting to the sudden light as I rubbed my eyes.

My vision returned back to normal and screaming of beaming joy came from multiple of familiar voices as they spoke in unison.
-Surprise!

And everyone that hid in the room revealed themselves.
White,Yellow,Blue,Steven and the crystal gems popped up from their hiding spotted as they had screamed "surprise". Sure it were completely a surprise but why, what happened today which I don't know of and how in the whole galactic existence did White hide in a dark ass room. After all she were like a literal light bulb that where lit 24/7.

They noticed my confusion and Yellow came up to me wrapping her arms around me in a side hug.
-Happy 5000 year aneversery sweetheart!

Yellow said as she smothered my face with kisses. I were still super confused about the whole situation right now. Aneversery to what? I thought clearly super confused.
-Aneversery to what?

I repeated but out loud so the gems could hear my question. They all chukled at my confused state and Yellow held me tighter and she kissed my forehead lovingly which earned an "awwww" from Steven.
-Dear, you have been on Homeworld for 5000 years now and we thought we would celebrate it.

Yellow said in a soft and caring voice as she leaned her head towards mine. I hummed out in delight at the affection from Yellow. My mouth where pulled in a closed huge smile as I felt tears spill down my cheeks. I were so happy that they cared, that they remembered.

Blue and White came up to me and Yellow and gave us a group hug. I could feel Steven and the other gems gave in to the group hug as well. I wrapped my arms around the diamonds and hugged them closer showing my greatness towards them. They all then said in unison that I knew I would never in my whole existents forget.
